flame-cat answered your question “Can we talk about how autistic Finn the Human from Adventure Time is? ”
um absolutely we can. also bubs is so autistic i can not
Ahhh I know! Finn and Bubblegum are really cool demonstrations of different areas of the spectrum too. Because Bubblegum is the classic absent-minded professor fixating on one thing with poor interpersonal skills while Finn has more sensory issues and likes rituals and dislikes change (it’s why he always wears a backpack and doesn’t cut his hair much and always keeps his hair under a hat).
Finn’s autism literally shines through every episode. Like, there is the episode where he was showing Flame Princess through the dungeon and how they worked and how everything worked in the very specific way and they had to follow that. Or when Jake makes a whole heap of Korean food and Finn doesn’t eat it because it’s different and he wants same old apple pie. And when he had his bag torn off and he freaked out but Jake became his substitute bag so he wouldn’t have a meltdown. Or in the dungeon train, how he found repeating the same fight over and over very relaxing.
It’s something that really amazes me and it’s never shown as a negative thing in Finn’s case even though he’s not always great at understanding emotional responses. Gimme more examples of Autistic Finn??
