Flameweed Legalized in Blacksand Annex
Protests broke out in the Ashfall Waste following the controversial legislation announced early this month. Concluding a very close vote, it was announced that flameweed would be legalized in the Blacksand Annex on January 4th. Commentators on the matter shared mixed views as the news spread like, well, wildfire.
A middle-aged nocturne from the neighboring Molten Scar put in his two cents arguing, “It only makes sense; a fire-resistant plant like flameweed is an obvious economic boost to the Ashfall area.”
A younger dragon local to the Southern Icefield was less convinced, only stating, “It’s just irresponsible. First they’re legalizing flameweed in the Ashfall. Next it’ll be ‘vaping’ in the Windswept Plateau. It’s a slippery slope, and they know it.”
When locals of the Blacksand Annex were polled on the issue, however, there was far less controversy. An interview with a youth club in the area was very decisive, as four giggling spirals gave their thoughts.
“I don’t know what anyone’s even upset about, man,” slurred Bentley, almost tripping on his own wing. “I feel great. We all feel great. Flameweed is great.” His companions nodded vigorously, the youngest finally speaking up only to yell, “420 blaze it!” Our reporters are still unsure what the unintelligible slang means.
Experts say evidence backs up claims from either side. The economy of the Ashfall Waste saw a 12% increase following the legalization, and farmers throughout the area experienced improved prospects. However, clans in the Annex also saw a reduction in labor as dragons everywhere claimed they were “Ashfall Wasted.”
Reporting in from a very baked Blacksand Annex, this is The Sornieth Times.
