How did Terry and Nate start dating?

Howdy! Thanks for asking. Actually, it all officially started with the Gear Grub Fun Splatfest:

but they've always shown some interest even before that! They've been pretty close even in their early concept art.

But even if they are together now, they act more like best friends than anything! They're just silly dorks that get in the dumbest shenanigans they could think of, so nothing's changed all that much except for their relationship status.

One of the things that did change is that Terry was more serious about bringing him back home to meet his family and to show Nate the wide open range; something that Nate had always dreamt of back when he was still stuck in the Octarian army.

There's actually a bigger story behind the two, but hopefully Side Order will help reinforce that. Until then, here's a snippet of it! Nate with long hair, from his younger years.

I hope everyone had as much fun with BIG big run as I and the rest of the Basement (et al) did. Was one egg short of getting gold, but I honestly don't care that much as I was having WAY too much of a blast with my buds @potato-wolf164, @tweetledeetle, @flamingskull28, @y3llowkiwi, and @geminired, and all the randoms we came across. It's always a fun and chaotic time when gaming with goobers, and I'm glad to have met them to begin with.

I want to know more about your 4

My Four is named Tater Tot! She/He! Thank you for leaving an ask showing interest, as I will now spout paragraphs at you!!!

She's a less-than-average student despite her dedication to academics, and isn't very good at socializing due to being "too loud" and "too annoying" for other inkfish to interact with her. Tater was also orphaned at a very young age, and has no idea who her parents are, but was raised alongside kids or adults who didn't like her presence for the above reasons. For all intensive purposes, she was a "problem child".

This eventually led to her suppressing herself, becoming quiet and still an average kid despite being so devoted to school. It was basically her life, and she wasn't even good at that.

When taken into the Squidbeak Splatoon by Marie, she'd heard all about Agent 3 from the Squid Sister and wished to be like them. Marie's praise was some of the first she's ever had that meant something to her, and it caused her to days a renewal in her passion. Even if she failed socially and academically, Tater was given a chance to do something good with her life by being an agent. And when the role of hero ended and Callie was saved? She received very little praise. No public recognition. So, she took the title of Hero and made that her entire personality. She'll be a hero to the people in one way or another!!

Tater, at one point or another, had a relationship with Junk, Agent 3. This lasted until after the events of Octo Expansion, where Junk had forgotten most things about their life- and thusly forgot about Tater. Agent 4 still tries to remind Agent 3 about their past together, and though Junk humors this sometimes, nothing good ever comes from it. Tater is heartbroken, but knows that a heroes must have happy endings. She's seen so in the books and shows she's indulged in!

She also has an unknowing rivalry with Agent 8, Guille. Guille dresses up as a mysterious, villainous figure named "Zoro" for reasons pertaining to their own story- but long story short, it's a "hero vs. villain rivalry" tale between the two that Tater made for her ego.

Captain what did you first think of 4 and 8 when you properly met them?

”I-” Captain inhales slowly, leaning over a balcony. A small trail of smoke came from the stick between their fingers. “I thought Eight was terrifying,” they start slowly, reaching up to adjust the awkward ponytail their tentacles were in.

“She was quiet, quick to snap, and I’m pretty sure she scratched the [REDACTED] out of Pearl at one point. We were both in the hospital, with Eight getting treated for the chemical burns on her back and the doctors attempting to salvage my eye,” they absently touch the marred flesh on their cheek, feeling the small creases.

“Yet Pearl and Marina never left her side. I was lucky to be in the next room over. Gave me a bit of hope to know that at least someone had family by their side,” the inkling huffed.

“A few months after that, I met Four. She was far too energetic for my taste and it startled me to see someone only a bit taller than me be able to lift what felt like her own weight.”

“But-” Captain drags the ashy cigarette against the metal, watching the embers die. “-She’s an asset. I’m proud to know her.”
