Spathodea my beloved little boxing menace. 🥊🥊 I got inspired by the art style of @tamberrio of spathodea and wanted to try to mimic their style and blend it with mine so shout-outs to them!
Hope your dance instruction went well!
It went so well!! Baby sister came with to help teach and we had SO much fun. Everyone at the party loved it, we made friends, the sound system worked, we had enough room--couldn't have gone better. <3
Now I'm just sad I don't get more chances to do this. Why'd we ever stop having balls?
Just gonna leave this here~ Honestly just wanted an excuse to draw buff girls
Inktober day 7 : Flammy
Fanart Friday I worked on in live stream last night!
This is Flammie, a cute chubby fuzzy and feathery dragon from some of my most favourite games, the Secret of Mana series! She works as the team's fast-travel, flying them all over the map, and can be summoned by the sound of a Wind Drum. Upon hearing it, she will happily swoop down and take the team into the sky, going wherever they ask of her. She's a very kind and gentle dragon, but don't confuse her for a male or she'll get really mad. In legend she was known as the "Father of the Winged Ones" and she couldn't be more displeased about it. High res file, sketch, and layered .PSD will be available on my Patreon very soon!
When I was a senior in high school my dad (listening to Glen Beck) gave me the whole “If you’re not a liberal by your twenties you have no heart and if you’re not a conservative by your forties you have no brain” and every single time I’ve thought about that in the ten years since it’s been more baffling to me. Obviously I myself have drifted more and more liberal/leftist/whatever my entire adult life and can’t see that ever changing but also I simply don’t understand how he is still conservative.
My dad is brilliant. I truly think that. He’s one of those people who can do absolutely anything, a real Renaissance man, and he knows so much and thinks so deeply about so many things! He has a PhD! He’s awesome to talk to about so many subjects because he’s intelligent and educated and compassionate. And I just don’t get it.
He cares deeply about people. His views on human rights and how people should be able to live probably pretty much line up with mine. (Except for abortion but that’s because of religion rather than politics, and that’s for a different stream-of-consciousness post) I guess/realize the disconnect is just that he doesn’t think “The Government” should be responsible for helping and fixing all of the ways people are suffering. And I can even understand that! I’ve got a healthy dubiousness and distrust of bureaucracy! I was a teacher in the public school system for fuck’s sake!
So I understand that lack of faith in “the system” but I still can’t comprehend voting for the people who lack basic empathy and want everyone to be Punished rather than Helped. Like, don’t get me wrong here, my dad is conservative but not Far Right or even necessarily Republican. He hates Trump. But he’s still Conservative and I just really struggle to understand supporting the people pushing that party’s agenda.
Yada yada party politics vs actual values human rights vs fear of the Establishment it’s all very complicated and frankly I wish I could talk about it with him because I think our values are very similar, it’s just how we’re expressing them that’s different. But he gets really angry when he talks about politics so I just avoid the subject and have for years. I wish we could have that deeper connection of talking about important things but he gets so mad and I just can’t. I love him so much and in many ways he’s wonderful but I just can’t talk to him about this. Or the church, but that’s REALLY a thought for another day.
I’m not going anywhere with this, just thinking out loud on my little blog.
Oh yes, Wednesday’s great-aunt, Calpurnia Addams. She was burned as a witch in 1706–they say she danced naked in the town square and enslaved a minister. But don’t worry! We’ve told Wednesday, “college first.”
