So I just watched The Flash season premiere [Spoilers]
I loved it. Pacing was great, emotions were on point, costume was good. Barry has the chin strap again!!! Yay!!! They dealt with the Nora grief well. Barry and Iris dealing with losing their daughter was very well done. I like how we see how different losses affect them. Barry became super broody when his dad was killed and now that his daughter was erased he’s hyper and trying to be super upbeat. He’s trying to act super positive to try and convince himself he is that happy and is not slowly dying inside. Iris is desperately trying to keep things as close to how Nora told them the past (or future I guess) goes so that they get her back. Iris is trying to “fix” things. I actually find this really interesting to see because in a lot of media we see the men trying to “fix” everything when they can’t. It’s refreshing to see a woman who grieves in a way other than emotional blubbering mess or cold detached robot.
Also the Flash Gordon theme scene was perfect. Thank god I had closed captions on or else I would have missed the dialogue I was laughing so hard. My uncle called me up after the episode and asked if I had seen it because he was laughing his ass off. It had always been an inside joke that whenever Barry did something epic we’d just start singing that under our breath. My uncle introduced me to the arrowverse shows when I was home sick one day. He put on the first episode of Arrow and from then on I was hooked. Thank you Crazy Uncle Vinnie, for helping my inner geek bloom.
