hey, remember when barry allen confessed his undying, ever-lasting love to iris west, and right before he said “i love you, iris” he let out a breath cause he knew he was about to change everything forever and his breath played with a strand of her hair as he held her?
i do
i also wonder if grandma esther is the kind of grandma who would look at barry and tell him he’s too skinny and needs to eat more and pushes a huuuuge plate of food over to him
also, is she iris’s grandma? her mom’s ma? or joe’s ma? or is she just one of those old black ladies everyone calls grandma? does she have an elaborate church hat?
#I CANT GET OVER#HOW MAD SHE IS AT HIM#SHES SO MAD#HOW FUCKIN DARE HE#HOW DARE HE KEEP#THIS FROM HER!!!!#HOW DARE HE LET HER BE CONFUSED FOR YEARS ABOUT WHAT THE PUPPY EYES AND THE CONSTANT ATTENTION#AND THE CEASELESS OUTPOURING OF ADORATION MEANT!!!#HOW DARE HE LET HER ///SUFFER/// FOR 9 MONTHS TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHY IT HURT SO BAD NOT TO HAVE HIM#IF HED SAID SOMETHING BEFORE THEY COULD HAVE BEEN HAVING SEX FOR YEEEEARS wait no she loves eddie she's in love with eddie#lol nvm we're cool bear#the flash#anyway I have a lot of feels abt this scene ok (via lashlights)
welp, i’m off to watch the man in yellow again, bye
broadlybrazen replied to your post: for all the cliche “slowburn” we’...
if they’d only followed through with that early promise, and shown us iris’s internal life, her reactions & feelings. and of course, let out the secret. dragging it all season was the worst idea.
TRUUUUEEEEEE
structurally speaking, they spent all of 1-9 with barry, and the best thing would have been to come back from the mid season hiatus by focusing on iris--her relationship with joe, her own journalism origin story, her dealing with what barry’s just revealed to her; but instead they screwed her over for utter nonsense and for firestorm, and scarcely touched the surface of everything that she is.
like the core of the show is the west allen family and the flash team, and honestly the entire season should have been about those two clashing (joe vs eobard, iris not knowing) and coming together (iris finding out, her coming in and taking eobard’s place); and eobard should have been revealed like around ep 18 and the entire rest of the season should have been an all out war between him and barry and the season shouldn’t have ended on a cliffhanger. and such a boring one, too.
honestly i think the flash has way too many episodes. it should be like 18 eps, tops, and the seasons should be standalone with some continuity, but no cliffhangers. the only way cliffhangers really work is if the overarching mystery of the next season is begun in the couple few eps of the first, and viewers get to recognize it once they start the next season. (i mean, seriously, who is watching the 2nd season of the flash because they HAVE TO KNOW if central city is saved?)
for all the cliche “slowburn” we’re supposedly getting, i don’t think the flash gets enough credit for how quickly and how openly they had iris and barry confront The Thing they have between them, i.e. that they’ve been in love with each other forever.
barry confessed in episode 9, guys, EPISODE 9. that wasn’t even halfway through the season.
thinking about some of the better shows out there, like the good wife and the x files, that are serialized and have romance as a subplot (although the romance in the flash isn’t at all a subplot), even they didn’t have the characters address the romance so soon. like, i have A LOT of problems with the flash, but i totally commend them on this front.
barry to iris in ep 21
Look, what I’m trying to say is, even though you didn’t know everything about my life this past year, that does not mean that you weren’t a part of it. You were. Every single day. Without you, there wouldn’t be The Flash.
iris and barry in ep 9
barry: You guys are moving pretty fast, huh? iris: Well, I mean, it's been a year. barry: ...and if I've seemed weird before, it's just that this year has gone by really fast, and I guess I didn't realize how far along in your relationship you guys were.
barry missed 9 months of iris’s life, but she didn’t miss any of those nine months. she was right there visiting him every day. because of those 9 months barry doesn’t realize just how serious she and eddie are.
barry has been lying to iris for almost a year. and he says even though she didn’t know he was the flash she was still essential to his being the flash.
omg. wells was the one beating barry up back in ep 9. i wonder why he decided to show up right then?????
