Nevada Governor Wants Interstate Gambling
Nevada governor Brian Sandoval has recently succeeded in obtaining the support of the state Legislature to start the negotiations for interstate compacts in order to maximize online poker liquidity. At this point in time, the regulator still needs several approvals regarding technical specifications before he can carry on with this proposal. Sandoval earlier explained that he has previously held several discussions with states who are interested in such a partnership, and that he is expecting to see his plan come to fruition in the near term.
The governor also said that he has been constrained to finalize his plan because of certain regulation requirements overseen by the Nevada Gaming Commission Board which were not finalized yet, but he expects that all of them will be discussed and fulfilled in October 2013. At this moment, Sandoval has declared that he appointed John Moran, a lawyer from Nevada which the governor says to have vast experience in the gaming and betting regulatory landscape.
It seems like online poker is not the only gambling activity which could lead to interstate compacts, taking into consideration that slot developers who offer progressive slot games have also expressed their ideas to expand their operations across states.
