Title: Born A Warrior
FFN | AO3
Summary:
Nobody is born a Warrior. Or a Hero, for that matter. You choose to be one when you refuse to stay seated. You choose to be one when you refuse to back down. You choose to be one when you stand up after getting knocked down.
You choose to be one because if not you, who?
Hiccup contemplates on what makes a Warrior, a Hero, and a King, and on his journey that led him to become all three. Even though he won and became king, there are still foes who wish for his death. Even then, will he stand up to fight for his Ideal World?

SO I just saw this post going around with Notable Jedi abilities and they just casually threw in flashburn?? Which is apparently a force ability I’ve never heard of where one can ‘shutdown areas of their minds in reaction to emotional trauma. With sections of their memory seemingly ceasing to exist, those who used the technique were unable to remember details about the event at the center of the trauma.’
Are you telling me that OBI-WAN KENOBI had straight up LITERAL FORCE POWERED REPRESSION ABILITIES
This...kriff I need to lay down. Was Obi-Wan repressing his way past Anakin’s various childhood red flags? Maybe, probably not. But during the WAR? FORCE. Did he agree to Rako Hardeen because he just **repressed** Zygerria so hard that he was like ‘yeah it’ll be rough but my mental health and all my personal relationships are in goodgreat shape right now so why not?’??
And then ORDER 66. HOW MUCH OF THAT DID HE ERASE. I have hard headcanoned before that Old Ben told Luke that Darth Vader killed Anakin because that’s what he honestly believed- he disassociated his way into thinking of his best friend and the mass-murder he mutilated as two separate people. How true might that be? DID HE MAKE HIMSELF FORGET THAT DARTH VADER==ANAKIN SKYWALKER
Now I desperately need a time-travel fic where Obi-Wan goes back and is trying to fix things but he CAN’T FUCKING REMEMBER WHAT HAPPENED. Like he knows the Jedi were all wiped out but doesn’t remember how?!? And everyone’s like Obi-Wan...we believe you...but...what the actual fuck. It is NOT going to help Anakin’s anxiety when future Obi-Wan’s goes ‘ha yeah you and your wife both died so horrifically that I repressed it and moved to tatooine. i vaguely remember screaming? maybe lava? idk.’ He remembers Darth Vader was a trusted Jedi and he slaughtered all the crechelings but CANNOT figure out who it was. It definitely felt like a personal betrayal but...no that’s all he’s got.

[Anakin] made a vow. He knew he had an extraordinary memory. Organization and learning came easily to him. He would use that power to sear this memory into his mind and heart. When he needed this, he would recall every detail — the exact shade of blue of the sky, the heartbreaking quality of Amee's uncontrollable sobs. There was only one thing he would train his mind not to recall, one thing he never wanted to see again, even in memory — the terror he had glimpsed on his mother's face.
Jedi Quest: Path to Truth
This happens after a slave raid: A pirate called Krayn temporarily overrides transmitters and steals slaves to work in the Kessel spice mines. Anakin is hugging his mother in relief that they weren’t separated when he finds out his friend’s mother was taken. All her master says is that "This will cost me, but she wasn’t highly skilled: Easy to replace.”
Years later, as he intended. Anakin remembers Krayn and what happened that day with overwhelming detail. However, he doesn’t remember the fear on his mother’s face. According to the EU, Jedi can do something called “Flashburn” where they use the Force to “shutdown areas of their mind in reaction to emotional trauma.” By doing so, they are unable to remember the details of what happened during the traumatic event. Essentially, Forcefuls can use the Force to alter or enhance their memory. Traumatized Forcefuls may do it instinctively just to cope. I wonder if that isn’t what Anakin is doing here? Moreover, how many times has he done it? How many vivid memories does he have of anger and hate where he vowed to destroy those who had hurt him and used him and his friends and family? How many things were too unbearable he did his best to make himself forget?
Camicazi: You’re annoying.
Flashburn: And you’re short!
Camicazi: I’m twelve.
