random hot take but i feel like a lot horror is so stupid honestly :/ it has the wide variety of: "excessive gore", "group of friends die gruesomely", "woman gets violated", and my favourite, "random jumpscares that mean nothing". there's no flavour, this doesn't make me feel any sort of anxiety or fear past "gore makes my tummy hurt :((", where's the build up, where's the confusion, where's the unreliable narator?? i love dp horror bc it's written by people who care and know what their doing
hmmm yeah, i like horror when its done well but a good chunk of the genre is rather cheap with how it achieves its dread. in all honesty though, its not like horror is the only genre a victim to this sort of laziness with what its trying to convey haha. im sure it gets rather boring to sift through the shit stuff to find the good though
