Most of my screenprints live in this antique printer’s cabinet. I used to visit a local antique store and swoon over this cabinet, never quite believing it could be mine until a friend convinced me it was not only something I loved, but something I could truly put to good use! Now it’s living its best life in the studio, every drawer filled with artwork. 🤎 In order of appearance: Mugwort, Yarrow, The Burning Rite, Saturnus, Nocturna, Familiars Rising, and Witches’ Night in full color. All are available in the shop {Link in bio}. The last of these, Witches’ Night, is the current Print of the Month, meaning it will be discontinued and archived once March comes to a close. My completed flat file/plan chest unit. This is a piece of furniture I have wanted for years to store artworks/paper stock etc flat but they usually come at a hefty price to purchase (even second hand). Being the DIY nerd I am I decided to build one myself. It is definately a simplified version of what the market offers but I’m made up with the minimal aesthetic and it’s functionality. It measures 1 metre by 62cm so can hold anything upto A1 in size. It has 4 pull out shelves with a simple circle cut out for the handles. The bottom compartment has a hinged ‘push to open/close’ door which hides the timber base but also acts as a secret compartment 🤗 Of course it is mounted on castor wheels to easily manoeuvre. There is loads I could go into about the build process and my choice of materials/tools I used but I’ll save all that for a blog post sometime soon. I’m still deciding on a finish for it (paint/varnish/stain?) and the edges need banding also. The total cost came in at around £120 for all the materials which inc. timber, castor wheels, hinges & latches. What I did this weekend was pick up a big flat file cabinet that a friend of my brother and sister in law was getting rid. Have filed with prints and papers and moved this beast into the corner.
