so I got a coupon for flax milk

I was like “WTF is flax milk?”

now keep in mind that I haven’t eaten dairy (on purpose) for almost twenty years and I have had rice milk, soy milk, almond milk, coconut milk and various plant-based milks in my diet on and off for the same amount of time 

and flax meal features prominently in my baking these days

but I could not imagine what flax milk would taste like

so of course I was curious

so I get the flax milk and I pour myself some and I taste it

...it doesn’t taste like much

...except a little bit like paint

I looked at the ingredients: water, flax oil, a bunch of minor ingredients

the ghost of a high school award and half a bachelor’s degree worth of art classes whispered in my mind:

“My dear child, flax oil is the same thing as linseed oil, and linseed oil is a dominant odor in oil paints.”

Oh. It’s supposed to taste like paint. Maybe if I keep that in mind it will be more appealing.

Yeah. It’s already growing on me a little bit.
