Brownout - Flaximus
Recomendación Musical: http://ift.tt/1oCDNFj
Grupo Fantasma has been playing as the GZA's backing band on a number of shows, including the two sets they played as part of the Northside Festival last week. Brownout is the band's alter ego of sorts, and you'll hear a lot of Latin and Afrobeat inspired funk along the lines of the Funk Ark and other acts. "Flaximus" is the first official single off a 7" the band released through Kept Records. The folks at Okayplayer premiered it but it's funky as hell, and worthy of your attention -- so check it out.

If you have never heard of Brownout, that may be because it is the Clark Kent alter-ego to the instrumental powerhouse called Grupo Fantasma. And those cats you should have heard of; they just backed the GZA's non-stop live performance of Liquid Swords at Bonnaroo and they are just generally the sh*t (no Brownout jokes, please). This jawn "Flaximus" displays their sound at it's biggest and boldest, incorporating latin funk and psychedelic elements into a musical answer to the question, What if the Wu-Tang Clan was a marching band? "Flaximus" drops in 7" vinyl form tomorrow June 19 on Kept Records with "I Won't Lie" as a B-side.
