FLCl: Regressive
I forgot to draw today so fuck, but anyway I won't rant about what other people have said about Prog (Progressive) because theyg will say yt better than me so I would recommend watching Jigabytes, Chaseface, and BadRespawn's video on flcl prog which would be way better than a tired procrastinator who probably isn't good with grammar.
First off I want to say I love FLCL the music is wonderful, animation is viewtiful, art is good shit, and the characters are great. FLCL designs inspire a lot of my characters especially Haruko and Mamimi. Naota Nandaba is one of my favotite characters in fiction mostly because in some ways I relate to him, and Canti just boost my love to robots. The show makes me want to get a Vespa, it makes me want to learn how to play the guitar thats in my room, and like others it makes me wish for someone to hit me in the head and somehow open my eyes to my problems and in some way fixes them. It makes me wish for someone new. Hell like many others I watched it during a point in my life where I had so many questions. I love FLCL as much as I love Godzilla which is more than a fuckton.
SO WHY DO I DISLIKE OR HATE PROG?
The Characters are boring. I don't like Hidomi shes just so boring like she doesn't have a personality and just kinda falls in love with Ide for no reason. Speaking of Ide hes ok, but he just loves Hidomi for no reason. Jinyu is just boring as much as I love her design she adds nothing. Haruko is just eww like I'm not sure how to describe her she just acts like a crazy alien lady and thats it even though in Classic (OG FLCL) she had layers she wasn't just crazy. Also I thought she just wanted Atomsk for power not some actual relationship. Cant shouldn't even be here he just kinda felt like something to remind people that what you're watching is flcl.
A small thing but I remember they played Little Busters for no reason for like a small ass scene that didn't need it at all.
The message. I'm not sure what was the message like was it something about love, letting go, or growing up. I would remove letting go because they still keep the shop. Growing up didn't fedl like it was there at all. So I guess love but the relationship between Hidomi and Ide is weak. Wait why do they like each other? Is it a love between Hidimi and her mom? I wouldn't say that cause it is brought up in like the first and last episode, but only for a small bit.
Questions. It makes some questions. Why is Naotas cat in prog? Why is Canti all fucked up? Why is Harukos guitar there? Where is Naota? Where is my boy? Why isn't all those things with Naota? Why was Prog made?
From what I understand from the behind the scenes on youtube they bought it even though the creator said he wong make a sequel. So they fucking bought it to make a sequel. Fuck you.
FLCL never needed a sequel its like The Truman Show, Courage the Cowardly Dog, and maybe Shin-Godzilla. Even though some people would say they don't know whats going on in Classic or the meaning fuck you you do know. Its kinda like Kingdom Hearts where its just hard to explain it. So heres what I thought FLCL is about. Growing Up. Its about how weird love is when you first experience it, its about getting out of the shadow of your older sibling, its about finding yourself, its about letting go, its about how sometimes you don't have a positive role model in your life, it's about how great someone new entering your life can be, and its about how being a mature adult is dumb. All things people find out while growing up. Its just shows it an interesting way with many characters.
There is probably more but the youtubers I recommend probably say what I would say and more im just not good with words and im tired. So watch them.
