@fishyfiash​ Diablo RP Prompt Starter A little something if interested c: Title: Dimensional Trouble

“You are going to get in trouble Malthael...”

The light of the arch was lazily coming in through the stained glass windows above, dancing over a quartet of four angel fledglings gathered about a strain device. 

The one who spoke was a rather skinny one, their wings far too big for the rest of their body to the point it just splayed out over the floor. The one they addressed was a dark looking fledgling currently fiddling with the device who more or less seemed dismissive of the other’s worries.  “I know what I’m doing Itherael. Besides, I promised Imperius I would open it and bring him something to fight...” The smallest angel’s wings practically vibrated, hovering a bit off the ground and clutching his small spear, “Yes! Something huge! And toothy! And...and...and toothy!” 

“You said toothy twice....” Malthael drawled.

The last of the party of fledglings, a small girl with wide blue wings giggled some, the bells on her armor tinkling merrily as she moved to poke Imperius in the side, “Maybe something not so scary but fluffy!”

“Fluffy isn’t scary Auriel!” Imperius whined prodding her back with the tip of his spear, causing her to giggle and flit off to hide behind Itherael, “I want a demon!” 

Malthael shook his head as his friends argued, poking and prodding the device a bit more before stepping back, clutching a crystal in hand, “I think I got it!”

Itherael let out a sigh, covering his face with both hands, “Magtherius is going to be mad at you for playing with this! What if  you bring something bad through?”

There was little attention paid to Itherael’s protests as Malthael clutched the crystal, wings flaring some as he called upon it to open the rift device pulling past the veil of dimensions. More or less he was confident in his own abilities to pull something through that wouldn’t be well...too dangerous and large for them to handle. Just something large enough to curb Imperius’s desire to attack and beat up something “bigger” then him so he would not have to hear the other fledgling’s loud whines.

The small gathering of four fledglings all looked on as the portal yawned wider, the energy of it reaching out to pull forth some being of another realm.

“No,” Malthael called, doing a poor job of hiding the urgency from his voice. “In fact--” 

The fledgling was still curled up in the corner, tugging at his cowl as though he wished to dissolve into the shadows.

“--I hope you may have a certain angelic skill of form shifting, as to fit into this room?”

While the angel he assumed and hoped was Magtherius determined that, Malthael looked about the room for anything that could fix the situation. He was lucky it was early and the library was still unofficially close, which meant the entire ordeal had take place out of eyesight. But also, it meant Farah was not there to query regarding the location of all the library’s more sought after comfort items.

Angels didn’t drink tea, regardless. At least he did not think they did. The angel before him certainly didn’t fit in the usual categories.

Stop overthinking. Decide on an action. Do it.

What did children find comforting? Touch, certainly, which was not something he personally preferred, either giving or receiving. He did not want to make the situation worse.

“I am not your future,” he replied, looking about again, before finally locating a quilt that had been folded neatly near the unlit hearth. “The only future before you is yours.”

--Stop-posturing-idiot.Stop-giving-advice.Look-where-that-has-gotten-you.--

No. Now was not the time to let his own misgivings get the better of him. He purposely unclenched his fists and took a long breath, before gathering the quilt in his arms and carefully approaching the fledgling. It would not do if he conveyed his own discomfort to the child.

“I am unsure if this may help,” he muttered, hesitantly extending the blanket to the angel. “I know mortal children often find it comforting. As...do I.”
