Now with a coat of his very own, a whole universe seemed open to Isa. He could go wherever he pleased, as long as he could open a portal there. Isa hadn't quite mastered opening portals the way most people seemed to do it, but he had been practicing even before he managed to get himself a coat, and he'd improvised a method that worked for him.
And now it was time to test it. Isa stuck his hands out in front of him and swung them apart from one another, as if he were parting a bead curtain. Blackness opened up in front of him, draping over his hands in the same manner. He stepped through and released the doorway, and it fell shut behind him.
Isa braced himself for the pain and illness that usually happened when he stepped through a portal, but he needn't have bothered. He felt none of the discomfort he usually felt in a portal. It was quite cold, especially around his unprotected head and hands, but it was tolerable.
Isa strode forward, hoping he understood how this worked. He focused on the place Xemnas had inadvertently shown him how to reach, with his little stunt to hurt Roxas. Once he felt like he'd gone far enough, he made that parting motion again, and stepped out into a clinically white hallway.
Well, he'd been aiming for Roxas' room, but this seemed to be close enough. He knew he didn't have much time, and if anyone caught him, he doubted he could fool them into thinking he was Saix for very long. He'd have to avoid eye contact or it would be very clear he wasn't who he seemed to be. And if he met Saix, he'd be in real trouble. Best to hurry.
Isa decided the best way to go about this was to act like he belonged there. He strode purposefully forward down the hall. He encountered one or two of the strange, rubbery creatures with the long hands and feet, but they swiftly got out of his way. Clearly they feared Saix; Isa would use that to his advantage.
In a stroke of fortune, Isa turned a corner and found a room with a XIII emblazoned on the door. That was Roxas' designation, if he remembered correctly. His portal hadn't been so far after all. Not wanting to surprise the boy too much, Isa rapped on the door with his knuckles.
“Roxas,” he said, putting on his most authoritative voice, lest anyone overhear. “I'm coming in.”
With that, Isa opened the door and stepped inside, immediately closing it again behind him.
This had definitely not been one of Roxas' better days.
After Xemnas' little stunt with Isa's body, he had been shaken so badly that he couldn't focus properly on his last mission of the day. Which had, of course, led to a very poorly executed mission and a pretty horrible report. And given the current state of affairs, Roxas was fairly certain that Saix would have a word or two to say about said report.
And, as Roxas sat on his bed with a small pile of medical supplies and potions, tending to his various injuries from his mission gone bad, the boy was kind of hoping he was wrong about Saix confronting him. That was not a conversation he was looking forward to.
A knock at the door, and a voice that was a little too warm to be Saix's, but close enough to make his chest tighten. Roxas' head shot up, eyes fixed on the door for just a phantom heartbeat. He'd barely staggered to his feet, keenly aware that he wasn't wearing his coat, before the door swung open and Saix stepped in.
- But it wasn't Saix. It could've been, at a glance, or if you didn't know the Nobody very well. But his eyes weren't eh right color, and his ears weren't pointed, and the ever-present clipboard was missing, and he didn't hold himself quite right, and his presence was just too warm and human, and... and...
For the second time that day, Roxas suddenly went very pale and his eyes grew huge. The young Nobody sat back down on the edge of his bed fairly abruptly, feeling faint, and confused, and some tight feeling in his chest and throat that he didn't understand and couldn't place. "- ... Isa," he squeaked out, "- I- I don't- how-"
