This is the thing
No... It wasn't supposed to be this way. It should have been her fading away, not him. Did she overestimate him? Did she underestimate the powers the Superior had given her? Did she screw up? Waited too long? Did something wrong?
The titan-like creature could only gaze in horror at the sight of the blond falling from the height he was at to fight her. An armoured hand reached out to catch the boy's limp body before it could hit the cobblestoned ground. In a split second there was a bright flash of light, and there was no gigantic monster by the Clock Tower anymore. Where its feet were just moments ago crouched a hooded being, who cradled her friend's head on her lap.
Her thoughts ran a thousand miles per second as she could already feel the blond fading out of existence, his memories, strength and abilities being passed onto her. But despite realizing that Xemnas' plans have succeeded, everything about that was pushed to the very back of her mind for now. Tears silently trickled down the replica's cheeks as she grieved for her best friend.
"I-I'm--" the words came out choked, "--I'm sorry. It wasn't... supposed to be..." Chest heaved and frail shoulders shook as she began sobbing violently. "Roxas, don't leave me!"
She leaned down to rest her forehead against the blond's, but in a nonexistent heartbeat, his form disintegrated from right under her hands-- a million bright, glowing sand hovering in the air for a second before swirling swiftly around her like a tornado and--
And then everything was pitch black.
The Replica Program was a success.
