honestly i didn't have too much lore for this one as i just wanted a chill thing to end this on. the main design process was spamming a button labelled 'hearts' several times until i was satisfied lol.
i will note the widow's peak making the face a heart shape and also the slight inclusion of the envelope motif with the straps of the shirt being reminiscent of it
thought about giving it angel wings but given i didn't go with the bat wings for wretched i decided on some kind of petal looking thing instead
day 6 of brush week, the penultimate lagoon brush! another one that i was looking forward to, and i'm happy with how i pulled off the concept that was in my mind! thoughts on the design as always under the cut!
they're so textures i love drawing water
i went in with the idea of flenme being half water, half sand, as though a part of the beach itself. a few key elements like the tail being a river (which ended up my favourite thing about this design!) were decided later on!
in their world it kind of does actually exist as particles through the entire planet and i thought this was a fun way to allude to that. it's in the beach!! the ocean! the plants, the air!
for some reason it seems i am also treating this challenge as pose practice lol, i'm really happy with how this pose turned out! originally i had them lying down across the sand/sea split but i just drew a reclined flenme for day 5 so i wanted to vary it, and i like how the wings frame the water this way!
the water texture was fun, but i'm very happy with the sand texture too, something that i don't think i've drawn before, and it was easier that i thought it would be! and the hands and legs actually look a bit like a part of the beach which is very cool to achieve.
got rid of the details in the ears to give a more sea slug look instead. creature
day 5 of brush week, wretched! i had a few different concepts and tried out some different style things with this one, and i like how it turned out! details of those things and a bit of lore for the design under the cut :D

i did the lineart a bit differently for this one! which is to say i tried to make it thicker and more angular but the shapes are still not that sharp lol. i like the look though!
i enjoy how flenme's eyes turned out here, i might continue adding the deeper colour to them in future.
i could have lent more into the palette by making them. less bright green, but because i'd settled on the idea of it being a post-canon outfit i kept the base design fairly similar. same goes for keeping it holographic.
my two main ideas were a pre-canon concept and a post-canon one. i went with the post-canon because while the style made sense for pre-canon i didn't have any reason they would wear red in that design, and i felt it would be better to include that part of the palette!
i reused the patches from the plushie brush, for the same lore reasons! additionally there are a LOT more nods to other ocs in this design. the charms on the bracelet and belt, the bracelet with the gem, the capelet and the rainbow on the edge of it, the necklace, and even the general outfit style are all connected to other characters. the cloak isn't even theirs lol.
i played with the idea of giving it bat wings, but didn't in the end as that felt slightly too big a change to the base design with everything else, so i settled for tearing the wings instead. with the pre-canon concept i might have changed them!

day 4 of brush week, clean! garden took nearly two weeks and then i do this one in about a day. to be fair this one doesn't have vines. instead it has duck! small amount of notes under the cut :D

turned them into soap! i was looking forward to doing the bubbles on this one for a while and i'm happy with how they turned out!
less complex that other designs in the linework, a lot of the difference is rendering! but i did make a lot of its shapes rounder to mimic bubbles, like with the wings especially i was thinking of bubble blowers.
i think i stuck closest to the palette on this one too, not exact but still in the general set of tones. it's perhaps my favourite in regards to colours specifically of the brushes.

wow this one took a while, but i'm very happy with how it turned out. day 3 of brush week, garden! this one is more of an addition to its usual base design, as it actually works with the lore i already have for their world! details of that and more under the cut :D
this one has lore to it here we go
in flenme's world, there is a sword, currently called the thorn, that takes over the wielder with vines. flenme never uses it in canon, but i thought this brush was a fun chance to design that possibility!
the flowers don't have a huge amount of thought re: symbolism, but the lily-like flowers are shaped the way they are due to that pointed ellipse shape being the symbol of magic and anti-magic. the petals/leaves in the air mimic how i've drawn magic particles before too.
quickly: magic (flenme) and antimagic (emfeln) are a bit like matter and antimatter if they were sentient and hated each other. most things on the planet work with magic, but the thorn is intricate antimagic that no one's worked out how to deal with which is part of why it's so dangerous.
the thorn starts at the hands which is why there's no vines on the legs yet. normally it would spread from one arm but flenme is ambidextrous!
why is the tail one big vine then? something to do with shapeshifting subconciously who knows. looks cool.
i imagine the thorn prevents flenme shapeshifting to their full extent though, no easy way to disperse into the air when encased in the particle that destroys you on contact.
this is the first brush where i actually mess around with making them look holographic like its base design! i've done it in fancier ways before but this was just a colour-changing brush on the highlights (this brush was taking long enough already lol)
its design is less colourful than normal as i leant things towards purples, greens, and whites, a stronger presence of antimagic's and loss of its normal warmer tones.
finished day 1 of brush week, cosmic! little bit late but i had a lot of fun with this :D i'll put design notes under the cut, but first i will say i’m using my oc flenme (they/it) for this! (they’re on my artfight and my very unfinished toyhouse, but i haven’t actually posted it here much i don’t think!)

this one was interesting because in some ways flenme already has slight space themes! main thing is they have a moon choker in their original design but i made it more focal here.
i did start out colourpicking from the brush but slowly gave in to the temptation of adding my favourite colour combo of purple and orange gradient to the palette <3
originally the tail had a star at the end in the sketch but i decided that was too cluttered with the rest of the design, so i made it like a ring instead!
the combination of moon and planet with a ring motifs is fun with their planet's lore (moon that was destroyed in a way where it temporarily formed a planetary ring)
replaced their "scales" that stick out over their body with stars! thought about replacing the head ones too but that looked a bit cluttered with the amount of them so i just tried to make the whole silhouette star-shaped
it's mainly transparent because i didn't know what to do for the background lol. i think there may be some artifacting because i didn't work with that in mind but it's chill
