Slick fingers grasped and groped at slippery limbs, tryingto find some kind of solid purchase while avoiding a scratch for his efforts.Cardinal was at his absolute limits and if the filthy little pussy cat didn’tget clean soon, he was probably going to do something desperate. One eyetwitching and both definitely glaring yellow, he begged, “Please, for thelove of Fairy Godmother, just rinse her off. I think that’s enough soap.”
After a few minutes and more than a couple of battle wounds,the parents of a certain mischievous hoyden that liked to get into things sheshouldn’t sat with backs slumped against a shared kitchen counter. The sinkabove was streaked with stray strands of fur, dish soap bubbles and the sticky maplesyrup Abella Hood had rolled in not to mention all of the little things thathad clung to it after a riotous chase from the teenagers. Both their clotheswere soaked to skin in patches and probably bore a few holes that would needmending as the temperamental feline sat with her back to them, licking sparedrops of water from fur.
Turning his head, Cardinal met Fleur’s stare at exactly thesame moment and saw the exasperation and humor at the situation waiting tobubble forth that lingered in his own stomach. Simultaneously the dam burst andthe two broke into a fit of nigh frenetic giggles, eventually leaning on eachother for support as shoulders shook and moisture slipped from the corners ofeyes. Only when laughter eventually wound down did the kitten mewl at them,apparently ready to forgive their treachery for some attention.
