It is 2025 and it has been twenty-six years since Harry Potter defeated Lord Voldemort. Twenty-six years of peace. Twenty-six years of civil interactions between Purebloods and Muggleborns. Now though, things are about to change. The Ministry of Magic has recently unleashed a new law. One they claim is to ensure that wizardry never dies and that future wizards are the strongest magical beings the world has seen yet.
The Ministry’s new law, the Law of Unity, claims that every wizard and witch over the age of 17 must be United with their “perfect” pair. This will ensure that all future Wizards and Witches have the healthiest, most magical children they possibly can. The Ministry is still allowing Muggleborn Witches and Wizards to enter Hogwarts at the age of 11, but they must be United at the age of 18 as well, meaning no Witch or Wizard will ever be matched with a FULL Muggle (though a squib is considered fine). The Ministry claims that this is the best way of ensuring that wizardry never dies. It is not sure when this will happen, whether it will be just as they hit 18 or years later, but no one slips through the cracks.
Some people find this to be the perfect tool for long lasting lines of magic, others see it as a lie. Some see it as a way to eventually weed out the Muggleborns. Some see it as a way to ensure that no Pureblood line is ever going to be pure again. Then there are others who say the only way they found the true love of their life is because of the Uniting, they never would have talked to one another if it hadn’t been for the Ministry. Others are trying to find loopholes to keep from getting married, entering what is known as a "contract marriage" before they can be chosen.
Regardless of your thoughts on the issue, the future is upon you. Best gussy up and get your party shoes on because you are about to be United.
