Flickering Wall - "Denham Psycho" Film

"Denham Psycho" is a short film by creative agency Flickering Wall, which pays tribute to the masterpiece "American Psycho". Director Hugo Keijzer explains: “When I first heard Jason Denham talk about jeans it reminded me of the film’s legendary business card scene. I recognized the same manic attention to detail and ravenous appetite for craftsmanship. This triggered the idea for a modern-day remake of the scene.” The film represent the culture of raw denim and how the people see the different kinds of denim. The film was made to celebrate “The Blue Yard” Denham Pop-Up Store & Cinema on Tuesday.

The Truth is in the Details

Take a 6 minute dive into the world of serious denim lovers. Did you know that there was such a thing? I mean, we prefer jeans to pressed slacks as much as the next guy, but we didn’t know how deep the obsession could go.

Jean maker Jason Denham and the team at Denham inspired director Hugo Keijzer to take a stab at a tribute to the cult flick American Psycho in this riveting parody. Replace suited up yuppies with blue jeans-clad bearded hipsters, and this short film takes on a life of its own. Keijzer noted that he made the comparison to the film when he recognized the almost "manic attention to detail and ravenous appetite for craftsmanship."

Props to the team at Flickering Wall for this bit of brilliance and the folks over at Denham for not taking themselves too seriously to have some bloody fun.

Remember that epic business card scene from American Psycho, in which corporate clones jostle passive-aggressively over business card stock and restaurant reservations?

It turns out you can almost non-ironically repeat that same scene, pound for pound, using hipsters jostling passive-aggressively over beards, tattoos ... and, yes, denim. (Restaurant reservations manage to glide gracefully between the two genres without trouble.)

The bad news: don't jump on this idea, because Flickering Wall already did for client Denham. And they premiered it at Sundance, the overreaching bastards! Hey. Why are you sweating?

The good news: This epic short includes that whimsical murder scene ... over coffee beans! WHAT MORE CAN YOU ASK FOR IN THIS LIFE. (Apart from having done it yourself.)
