Look, I’m not going to get into this argument beyond this one ask, but most of y’all have some really misguided understanding of what being italian means. Italy isn’t a homogeneous thing. No country is. Race in Europe is not the same thing as race in the US. Y’all love to ignore the fact that Italy was invaded by Moors for a long time. A significant number of Italians have subsaharan ancestors, particularly the sicilians. 

I don’t like Floriana as a person because of the things she has said and done in regards to her boyfriend so this is not me defending her, but I would never look at a picture of her and go “that girl is white”. Look at her features and look at her skin tone. You can tell she has Moor/non-white ancestry SOMEWHERE. She may not be Latina as the role called for, but calling her white is a stretch. It’s the same thing with Lorenzo on FTWD. I would never run across that kid on the streets and be like “Yeah...that dude is white.” I don’t think either of them have white privilege or are white passing. Y’all can hate the ship or the characters all you want but calling either of them “White people taking POC roles” seems like a reach to me.

No clexas are claiming that white latinas aren't real latinas. The only latina discourse was about how Floriana wasn't latina and should be able to play one just because she's italian

Bruh...I’ve seen CL’s claiming white Latinas aren’t real latinas with my own two eyes. This isn’t coming through hearsay. Don’t come to me with that because I’ve read it myself on my dash. The Floriana discourse is something else and I’m not touching that.

What do you think about all this Floriana Loma discourse?

I assume you’re talking about the casting drama I’ve seen floating around? If that is the case, I think that - as usual - Tumblr doesn’t understand how anything works. The casting process for a show/film is very complicated and so many things go into choosing who plays a character on a project. It is not as simple as most of them assume. It was the same unnecessary drama with Lorenzo/Chris. I don’t know why people on Tumblr are always pressed about something unimportant. It’s like they don’t have anything better to do than be angry all the time.
