Agnes was somewhat surprised that Sir Dort, the new principal, approached her. Normally, the teachers left her be and though she was far from being a loner in terms of her class standing, she was not all too rich in stardom either to garner attention.

The opinions she had heard from her schoolmates regarding their new principal was... not as favorable as anyone would have hoped for a new administration; she had to be careful not to appear like an opportunistic mouse.

"Sir Principal." Agnes had a little bit of caution with her approach to the subject. It was a good idea to keep on a teacher's good side for her own merit. "What can I do to help?"

Agnes didn't exactly have a good reason to be sneaking out, she just wanted some alone time but it seemed like she was just gonna get caught instead "No particular reason." She spoke, her tone hushed.

She’s never been alone with him before. Her claws are already unsheathing to complicate her chopping of chocolate. The chicken salad she made is in the fridge. She has cupcakes in the oven. She knows that she can’t trust herself - what if she shifts and pounces on him again? Larissa isn’t here to help, this time - he could char her to ash.

"Sure, that'll be the usual $3.50."

And the machine whirs. Same ol' routine. "What are their names?" he asked as he kept his eyes on the machine and tried to engage conversation.

“Well, the Cacio e Pepe is ruined now,” Barry said, “but I can always pivot. I hate to brag, but I make a damn good Alfredo.” ------------

Cacio e Pepe? Well, that might help to explain why the smoke alarm had gone off. Or it might simply be Dort himself, if the information about his abilities was accurate. The smell of burnt pasta began making itself known, filling in a bit more detail, a pan on the stove covered but looking slightly distressed.

Given that there was not actually any emergency, Thera's thoughts slowed down enough to realise two things; one, she'd rushed into the living quarters attached to the Principal's office in response to the alarm, and two, he was perfectly calm and talking about ... Alfredo?

There was a moment as she considered this, the connection of dots and the potential for a rather awkward conclusion. "Forgive me, Headmaster," She ventured politely, "but I thought we were meeting on a matter of business, not ... cheese sauce."

Wednesday's brow furrowed ever so slightly, imperceivable to those who haven't trained themselves to notice. "Better educators than you have tried and failed that." If she could outmaneuver Principal Weems, despite the woman's shifting abilities, then she doubted she had anything to worry about. She had far more important things to worry about at Nevermore, anyway.
