Summary: Flins is tired and transforms back into his fairy/fae form thanks to it.
Notes: this is my first fic don't bully me, gender neutral reader, i haven't played a single archon quest so i can probably get a few facts wrong, also i am currently listening to "Animal" THIS SONG IS SO FIRE.

Flins laid on the bed, a wet cloth on his head relieving his new adquired headache.
You sat next to him with a concerned expression. Well, it was certain what brought this situation to him.
Flins had recently spent a particularly large amount of time in fighting the Wild Hunt, and souls had been more unseasy lately. They had caused him quite a few troubles, unlike usually. Today he had spent atleast an hour trying to fish something, which went terribly wrong after one of the wandering souls scared it away. And when trying to gather his fishing rod, he slipped into the wet, humillating mud. Safe to say his clothes were now stained.
You let out a sigh as you recalled the events from the day. Flins insisted he was fine, after dealing with lots and lots of stuff thorough his long fae years, he could handle it. Yet you digress.
You decided that buying fish from the market was the safest option after the recent incident. You spent some time preparing it. Cutting, oiling, condimenting, cooking and preparing a soup alongside with it for your tired, and slightly stressed boyfriend.
"I can asure you, my dear, i am very capable of feeding myself."
"Come on! You've been thorough a lot today. I wanna pamper you."
Flins let out a quiet sigh, and reluctantly let you feed him. Well, who couldn’t resist that pleading expression of yours? After you finished, Flins looked.. bashful? The tips of his ears were tinted with a soft pink, and his pupils were slightly dilatated. Well, it wasn't bashful bashful, but for Flins, blushing wasn't the norm.
Suddenly, Flins let out a cough that he covered by his hand. Oh no, is he choking? Was your first though. After all he did just eat a whole fish soup, there's could be lots of spines in there. Just when you were about to ask you spotted.. glitter, in his hand? What?
"Flins, what.. what is that? Is that glitter?"
Flins tried to hide it by rubbing it away on the matress, which only spread the evidence further. He sighed, and pointed at the lamp on the nightstand.
"My cherished, could you please hand me my lamp?"
Of course you quickly obeyed and handed it to him. Flins let his fingers drum against the metal of it, and started speaking in a quiet, slightly ashamed tone of voice.
"You see, my dear. Us faes, when feeling.. having low energy, tend to uhm.. have these–"
Before he could keep explaining it to you, he suddenly.. disappear, vanished, the only thing remaining was his lamp. You desperately called out for his name, and hastily grabbed the lamp. When you observed it further, you noticed a round, purple-ish light inside of it.
"Flins!? Is that you?
You pressed your ear against the cold lamp, and heard a soft voice speaking to you.
It was like Flins', but more airy and slightly high-pitched.
"My dear, please, fear not. This is anything but uncommon, a mere symptom."
Wait, sympton?
"When us, faes, are feeling tired, stressed, overwhelmed basically, tend to switch back to our original forms. It's important that i had a vessel to cling to, my lamp, because our original bodies are quite fragile, to say the least."
You stared at the lamp, unblinking and confused. Was it really Flins? Your Flins? Considering Nod Krai's nature, it could be anything but.
"Tell me something only Flins would know."
"You once choked with a grape on the.. ah, what was it called–? Yes. The New Year holiday, my dear."
Yeah, okay, it was definetely Flins. But– just– how? The purple–ish light inside the lamp gleamed slightly.
"You look.. confused. Uncertain. You shall not worry, this is only temporal. The instant i feel at ease, i will be at your side once again."
You sighed, and slowly sat on the edge of the bed. You cradled the lamp and hugged it tightly to your chest.
"So do i just.. leave you in bed? Wait, if i cuddle the lamp, could you feel it?"
The lamp brightened for an instant, as if bashful. Well that certainly answered your question.
"I... perhaps."
Okay, that was enough.
You laid back on the bed, lamp in your arms. You pulled the matress at your chest level as the lamp rested carefully against your torso.
"This is kind of weird– i mean, cuddling with a lamp, you know?"
"I'm certain.. your body is warm. What a pleasant sensation. Truly one of my favorites."
You let out a chuckle against the lamp, and started tracing it with your fingers. The patterns, the coldness and the top were caressed with carefulness by your fingers. You brought the lamp to your face, and caressed it with your lips this time, the side of the top, the top, then slowly the side. It reminded you of all those times you had kissed Flins. Brushed your fingertips against his toned cheekbones. Kissed the narrow tip of his nose, and finally gazed into his adoring eyes.
You giggled quietly against the lamp, and Flins seemed to discreetly replicate the gesture, judging by the way the light glimmered and dimed.
Even if he didn't speak, you knew he was giddy by the amount of affection you were providing.
After repeating the tender actions for a while, you felt sleep slowly present itself in your half-lidded eyelids. You yawned, and alongside Flins decided to take a well-deserved nap.
After the nap, you decided to treat the lamp. You grabbed a small cotton cloth and started to polish it. Treating it with care and tenderness. Flins talked to you thorough the process, praising and thanking you for your well intended care.
The next day, Flins finally went back to his human form. Safe to say, your fae boyfriend was very clingy and more affectionate than usual.

He went back to his aristocrat roots for this holiday. Even all those years ago he found the human holiday dedicated fully to love to be the most charming one in their roster of celebrations. In all honesty, he was always a little sad that the fae didn't have such cute traditions.
So when he started dating you, a part of him lit up at the joy of being able to celebrate, and with you no less!
He fished out his an old outfit from his closet for this very occasion. thankfully his whole wardrobe is rather timeless, so the clothes he picked are not painfully out of fashion.
For such a special day, it deserves some special scenery no? Hence the reservation at a new luxury spot near the edge of Nasha Town. It's currently the biggest topic of discution, with it having a stupidly high reservation price. It would make do!
Flins did make sure to ask Nefer ahead of time to make sure the place was actually worth the trouble, having heard that she has been there for business dinners. He also paid her a lil extra to get her recommendations on what to eat~
It may be a bit pretentious, yeeesss... But the view is nice, and only bigshots go here, so theres no rowdy drunks to bother you two on your date!
All throughout your journey to this place Flins' hand hovered around your back, ever the gentleman, he didn't want to unintentionally mess up your pretty outfit. Once you arrived he would not let you lift a finger, opening the doors for you and pulling your chair out.
The restaurant's decor is pretty, you'll give them that much. And the view really ties the whole thing together, the vast ocean and the setting sun make a great combo.
It serves all kinds of food, and from every nation no less, the menu being as thick as the stack of unfinished reports waiting patiently on Kyryll's desk. It takes you around an hour to decide what to eat, including some bantering and flirting with Flins sprinkled inbetween~
You end up ordering some seafood, and Flins choosing a wine that pairs incredibly with the food. While fish is a pretty common food in Nod Krai, these dishes are unlike anything you've ever tasted before! Even the daunting sashimi from Inazuma was absolutely delish!

Presented you with a velvety box once you finished your meal. You knew that particular smile on his face meant he was awaited your reaction, the closest thing to nervous you Flins can get.
Whatever is inside is probably just as costly as the dinner itself, judging just by the box alone. Its soft exterior is a deep purple colour, the material feeling heavenly under your fingertips. You almost feel bad having to undo the bow to open, it's such a pretty sight!
But what lies inside is even prettier as it twinkles up at you, the necklace catching on to the tables candlelight as it rests in its box. Flins only smiles, satisfied with the awe-struck look on your face.
"I take you like your gift?" He asks casually, letting out a small chuckle as you nod vigorously. Who wouldn't like it? You recognize the gem instantly!
Flins showed it to you once, it's the rarest and shinest one in his collection. It was polished and cut to perfection, with quite an intresting story to it. And it also just so happened to be your favourite colour~
When you pressed for an answer on why he did this with the gem, he simply shrugged. "I think you deserve a custom made piece, none of the ones the jewller was selling caught my eye," he paused as he got up from his seat, circling the table and taking the necklace from the box, "Besides, like this it serves a much better purpose than collecting dust on a shelf." He smiled, gently clasping the necklace around your neck.
His smile grows fonder when he returns to his seat. no wonder that this colour is your favourite, it matches your eyes perfectly. Seeing you like this makes a new thought cross his mind, making a quick mental note to gift you a ring next year~ ♡
