flint-terrence
Max jogged up to Terrence when she saw him, already scrawling a note as she moved towards him, slowing down as she started to walk beside him.
flint-terrence
When Max caught sight of her friend, she sighed in relief, walking up next to him carefully. Her bracelets jingled around her wrist, but she felt that this was the time that her voice might be soothing--at least, for a moment. She cleared her throat softly. I'm glad you're all right, Terrence.
i'm flying, james! { james and terrence }
James had done his homework on this one (for once).
As soon as he heard that Terrence might even have the slightest desire to fly, he started to do his research. He had read books about flying, he had spoken to Professor Hadley and Professor Nott extensively, trying to figure out the best way to do this. Finally, that morning, Professor Hadley had come up with the solution--a charmed ride along.
Sure, James could have sat Terrence down on the front of his broom and held him like he was some little kid, but he wanted better than that for Terrence's first experience. He wanted Terrence to feel as free as James always did when he flew. James wanted only the best as his somewhat first impression.
He had been worried for a while that Terrence would dislike him--which was the last thing that James wanted. He had noticed how smart the kid was when they were in a shared potions class, and he had noticed how snarky he was during lunch in the great hall as he passed by the Ravenclaw table. James wanted to know the kid, and he figured that this was the best way to start their friendship. With a bang.
As they made their way out to the quidditch pitch, James stopped after they got through the Gryffindor tower. "Wait here for a second, let me grab the stuff," he said, unable to keep the energy out of his voice. He chuckled softly as he jogged back to the tower, getting his broom and then the one charmed to be paired with his.
"Here, I'm going to hand a broom into your right hand." James carefully placed the wood in Terrence's hand. "Okay, now, just carefully swing your right foot over it, okay?"
He grinned. It was going to be fun night. The moon was out and brightly shining, and it was warm, but there was still a breeze blowing. It was the perfect night to fly.
"Can I position your hands?" James asked, before placing Terrence's hands on the spots they were supposed to be. "Okay, so the broom is charmed to sort of...read your intentions. Basically, if you start to fall or anything, the broom will keep you upright and stick your hands to the wood. If you want to take your hands off, just do so slowly--though I only advise that when we get back down." James giggled, giddy with eagerness. "Just bend down so that your chest is at a 30 degree angle to the broom, and hold the broom so that it's about the same."
James picked up his own broom, an energetic grin spread across his face. "I'm going to kick off now, okay? Your broom is going to follow mine--and, don't worry, I'm a good flyer."
