flint and vane are the type of enemies that have mind blowing feral sex one time during which they both say something like "this doesn't mean anything" or "this doesn't change anything" and they both mean it 100%
vane saving flint from his foster dad. gay.
"I figured if anyone was going to make a trophy out of you, it really ought to be me." can flint and vane fuck please
Silver: There is an element of this journey into the dark that... I'm only now beginning to appreciate.
Flint: What's that?
Silver: How good it feels.
Black Sails, XXV
While watching this scene I very much wished to conjure Charles so that he could rejoin, "Of course it does. Violence is the delight of men. You think men descend into the dark. No. They are born into it."
I am once again saddened that there are so few interactions between Vane and Flint, as unlike Silver or Billy Bones, Vane must find Flint the most mundane of monsters. Charles is not afraid of Flint. There is nothing to alarm him in Flint's actions and he would likely approve of his pragmatism.
Charles functions as an excellent foil to Thomas' philosophy of legal reformation. In him, Flint is vindicated in his armed revolt. (Many a revolutionary group has splintered along lines of acceptable violence, and has found that the passage of time brings more in favour of "no quarter".)
(The memory of) Thomas and (the living) Charles could be the angel and the devil on Flint's shoulders, or rather the Voice of Civilization and the Voice of Anarchy, and James' own second Republic of Pirates might land somewhere inbetween.
Of course after ten years of suffering the real Thomas Hamilton, rather than the ghost of James' memory, might see the wisdom in violent ends, and I also despair that the three never interacted.
“Strange pairs, Lieutenant… They can achieve the most unexpected things.”
—Thomas Hamilton, Black Sails in X.
i feel like if vane found out flint was gay, he would feel personally victimized that flint expressed no interest in him. like even if vane had no interest in men at all he'd be like why doesn't he want me ?!?! i'm the hottest guy on this fucking island! my shirt is always off and i oil up my chest every morning
