so y'know, Jinx being an artist and i do depict her being rather skilled in it.

but what do you think her doodles would look like? the old scene/emo, invader zim inspired ones? or maybe one of those how to draw anime style tutorials from the 2000s...

you've seen how Jinx tend to stare unblinking in her appearance in TT03

and perhaps heard of "Jinx's eyes dilate like a cat" headcanon.

but let me give you another proposition :

the slow blinks. what if she subconsciously do the cat eyes language? hehe.

i enjoy sickfics and prompts now and again, and i'd imagine thats hard to pull off for the likes of Kid Flash. SO Jinx it is. i'm sure she's more likely to get sick since she doesn't have superspeed metabolism and such, but i feel regular ol' cold is not enough, soooo hear me out :

we know of the fanon idea around Jinx's powers going haywire during times that are perceived as bad luck/superstition. i kinda have an idea in mind, though not sure if i'll implement it in my AU. (probably yeah just for variety..?)

in my AU, Jinx is not just a sorceress but she's also a luck medium. luck and karma go through her and stick to her, and she channels them, the more she holds on to them, the more powerful the hex she'll channel and if she uses too much bad luck power in too short intervals, the chances the power will backfire on her increase. (thus she's skilled at dodging and acrobatics, its to buy herself time)

but there are days where that bad luck mojo gets too overwhelming to control and hold onto. this only happens on the 13th of Fridays, where bad luck is at its peak. the immense power surge through her body would render Jinx so overwhelmed that her face would flush, her temperature would rise, and her muscles would ache.

the symptoms are very much like a high fever but no amount of conventional medicine nor hospital care could cure it.

and throughout the day, even in her sleep, she'd try to suppress the powers so as to not accidentally destroy her room or the entire building.

i really like this scene from issue #52, where KF lost his powers temporarily and Jinx got so worried about his well-being she sought Raven, who she's still at odds with, out of desperation to save him.

so an opposite scenario, where its KF seeking Raven's help because frankly this is not a problem that can be solved logically or scientifically, only fellow sorceress would get it.

Raven would cast a bubble to keep Jinx in a quarantine zone, and would assure KF that Jinx will be fine by tomorrow when the day is over, but warns him to keep his distance until that time comes.

KF'd have to face one of the hardest hurdles of the week: to stay away from Jinx for the entire day, watching her heave and seemingly writhe in discomfort and seemingly pain in her sleep, or else he'd get caught in the crossfire of bad luck that is the Friday Fever.

so just as reminder, yes, Jinx was at the Brotherhood of Evil meeting along with almost every villain thats introduced in the show. shown at the end of episode "Homecoming part II" (54th overall episode)

continuity conflict aside, its safe to assume Madame Rouge followed up on her words of being in touch with Jinx (and subsequently, the rest of the HIVE FIVE) and got them on board with the Brotherhood of Evil.

also safe to assume that episode "Lightspeed" happens before "Homecoming part II"

now i personally have my own scenario around this detail alone, headcanon territory here,

Jinx and the rest of HIVE FIVE (six) eventually got the invitation, however it didn't happen overnight (just look at the huge villain roster. some were goners— did they ressurect them? well, it must've taken them days or weeks regardless),

so theres a hypothetical time gap in-between where Jinx would rethink of her life decisions up to that point and have some dilemma around her alignment. would she want to put up with peers who barely respect her as a person like Madame Rouge? perhaps Kid Flash still patrolling Jump City while the Titans's are still off town and thus more banter and development between Jinx and him.

and eventually lead to her having made up her mind and Jinx decided to not want to do the Brotherhood's dirty work anymore. however, to not rise suspicion (since Madame Rouge saw her setting Kid Flash free), she attended to get information and serve as intel.

she'd leak the info and what entailed in the meeting to Kid Flash later, a whole scene of trust, lead to her breaking his communicator so they wouldn't be tracked, and they run off to the night.

they probably did stuff behind the scene, maybe letting other Honorary Titans know or taking care of enemies that aren't on screen or something, and thats why they came in late.

i'd imagine for her to be in the Titans Together episode's big fight and fighting alongside the Titans, and Kid Flash referring to her as a "friend" (or girlfriend, if you watch in JP dub), there must've been big development off-screen for that to happen.

headcanon part over.

and yes, at the end of the day, season 5 was objectively rushed and they probably lack hindsight or didn't think much of the continuity errors when they worked on it.

but the best thing about fandom is to fill the gaps in-between, and personally instead of dismissing those errors just for things to make sense for oneself, like lots of dudebro theorists on reddit, i tend to go with the more whimsical "how can we make this work?" mindset.

that way, more scenarios can be made, and animation/continuity errors have purpose haha. I keep my eyes peeled when I watch or rewatch shows or movies or cutscenes because of it, to notice every single detail. maybe i can make new ideas or headcanons!

Hey Matcha! I'm curious - since it's never covered in the show or any other media, how do you think Jinx got her powers? I'm trying to figure out her backstory myself haha

Jinx's powers? hmmm in TT03 universe at least i always just assume she's born with it haha. because unlike Raven, she doesn't cast spells when using her hexes, and she herself in Lightspeed claimed, "I'm bad luck, good was never an option for me"

as if she's imbued with it or its a part of her.

and as per issue 52, it seems to be something she's insecure about. (and even implied to be something she's still figuring out)

and thought it'd make an interesting contrast with Kid Flash/Wally too, since he got his powers by accident haha.

Idea: au where their first meeting is off the clock as civilians. Wally in one corner trying to chat up a cute girl and Jinx in the other acting chill but mentally freaking out cause A) she's secretly a supervillain B) she's into geeks apparently

oh anon, thats a cute and funny idea hahah. here's another cent, at least from episode Deception, it can be assumed that Jinx is also somewhat of a sapioromantic. she's into smarts.

so i imagine this scenario in my head :

Jinx goes undercover to Keystone for a breather and to do her homework in a local cafe (she's supposed to graduate early but had to repeat the semester after the Slade deal went down the gutters), and perhaps Wally, being the social butterfly (and Kid Flash) he is, would know everyone in the city and find intrigue in her, being a new face and all. charismatic as he is, Wally smoothly sits across from her and tries to spark a conversation. which Jinx took notice in the Flash patch (and my own spice, Sonic) on his varsity jacket and assume he's just a pretty-faced jock who's a geek, somehow.

("I'm not interested in talking to guys who like cartoon blue hedgehogs", "Hey now, don't disrespect the blue blur") she would coldly ignore and openly eyeroll at him, responding flatly and rudely to kill the attempted conversations. that is until he notices her homework. it was physics, a funky physics.

like, y'know, "John ate 3 apples" narratives in questions? instead its "If a device designed to emit electromagnetic pulse is positioned on a rooftop 150 meters above street level, and needs to incapacitate a moving target traveling at 45 mph...", they're villain-themed! haha

Jinx would initially panic deep down, as its definitely not the type of question you'd see in the average highschool, she'd smoothly lie about it. and instead of looking suspicious at her, Wally would smoothly glide over the equation, write a formula down, and solve it whilst explaining his thought process. he's not belittling her intelligence, Jinx is among the best graduates. she's very by the book and did the equation just right i'd imagine, more so offering a faster and more effective alternative.

So he's not just a dumb, geeky, local jock. For a regular high schooler, the guy surely knows how to calculate an effective way for a hypothetical, comically large laser beam to incapacitate a hypothetical hero. finally Jinx takes another glance at him, she finds interest in that.

probably because my aro/ace ahh just never experience crushes or what have you i must've missed the memo.

so apparently theres this myth/superstition floating around called the artist's curse, in which you're not supposed to put someone you love in art or else they'd drift away. thats poetically sad as a concept, but vague as to what extend to that love is actually. does platonic count? so on.

well i've drawn Flinx drawing each other before, and Jinx drawing KF. did I unbeknownstly put them to their doom?

ehhh thing is, i'm only superstitious for fun and if it ruins that fun and whimsy then i don't believe it, this superstition in general feels like a bummer lol, can't express your feelings to someone in a medium so beloved to you out of fear? people drifting away is a normal thing anyway.

so that supposed curse isn't a thing in my world, or the funnier alternative, the "bad lucks" just cancels each other out LOL.

anywho, perhaps to one who headcanons Jinx as super-superstitious, thats an idea or two.

I know your idea for your AU is that Kid Flash revealing his secret identity to Jinx happens once he's officially in love with her (so peak, and I am impatiently waiting for it 👀), and while I totally stand by that, at the same time, I can't help but feel like what fully convinces him he's doing the right thing and makes him realise that Jinx is It for him is that, unlike Frankie, the moment she learns of his true identity, she accepts and loves Wally West just as much as she already loves Kid Flash.

Judging from what you've said before, I feel like Wally would always have this lingering fear of rejection because his civilian self can't measure up to his alter ego. So, naturally, the girl he loves loving him back fully would be like the ultimate reassurance to him. Right?

theres common conflict both Jinx and KF would face throughout TT:SB AU, [biting the bullet and taking a leap of faith] and [impostor syndrome] haha. this feeling that he won't live up to a standard others have of him, the pressure of being the next to take the Flash's mantle, to be the best boyfriend on the planet, to appear unshaken and strong, this constant need to continuously move the goalpost—this extends to his own view of himself too and his sour experience with Frankie only multiplied it. what if he's not good enough? what if he's a letdown? the young speedster forgets he's just human teenager at the end of the day sometimes.

while narratively we know whats gonna happen (obviously a happy outcome), the process and how it'd be conveyed are the significant and tricky part haha. i already have the rough outline and i really want to tie this later arc to a huge 2-3 part midpoint story (which i've shared ideas about in multiple places) and there's gonna be something that would finally convince and push Wally to unmask himself despite his initial fears and doubts.

unlike him, Jinx doesn't have an alter ego or true identity.

she's just her and, while initially irritated, she would come to understand how its a sensitive issue for heroes with double lives in general and would bear with not knowing KF outside his mask and wait until he's ready. (KF wouldn't hurt her and her rational part knows, but theres a meek lingering fear still deep down, y'know, from her experience with Stone.)

the moment he unmasks and reveals his identity will be the end all be all to their relationship, and once they finally lay out all of their cards bare, theres no more secrets between them anymore and their mutual trust even more so solidifies.

If they weren't joined at the hip before, they will be even more afterwards.
