The next gen racers play among us together, pass it on
For all the next gens: Do y'all have favorite animals?
Rich: A question... for ALL of the Next-Gens...? This space is aboutta get crowded! Rich: Wait, I have an idea! What if I took one at a time and asked them individually? That way it’ll be much easier on me and there won’t be any hard feelings about certain choices! Rich: Wow, Rich, you are smart! :D Rich: I get it from the best :)
(This get quite long ee)
Since sports cars often race on partially lit road courses after dark, they have working head and tail lights. Most of the Next Gen racers probably have never seen McQueen use his headlights so a racer with functional front lights would be something new.
Lights
“Ugh…!” grunted Flip Dover, as the large colorful beach ball rolled into a dark area at the rear of the Georgia Motor Speedway. While most of the structure was brightly lit, there were a few areas where the light did not reach.
Several young racers, Cruz, Ryan, Flip, Rebecca, Danny, and Bubba, played a game of pushball to burn off excitement before the next day’s qualifying runs. One strong shove by Flip had sent the lightweight ball into a shadowy place.
The young cars halted and peered after the ball.
“I sent it there. I’ll get a lantern,” said Flip.
“Why?” said Cruz. She switched on her headlights and drove into the dark area. A few minutes later, she returned, pushing the ball in front of her. She saw the others racers staring at her.
“What?!” she exclaimed.
“Your headlights work?” asked Danny.
“They’re real?” said Bubba in amazement.
“Eh, yeah…,” she replied. She then realized that most Piston Cup racers had stickers instead of working headlights. In addition, Georgia was only her second race in the Cup series, so most racers did not know much about her.
Cruz switched her headlights off and smiled. “Sports car, y’know. Need them for dark parts of road courses.” She resumed pushing the ball, not wanting to call more attention to her sports car heritage.
She felt their eyes on her as she drove past the small group to the brighter area of the stadium and chuckled silently. Some cars might be seeking upgrades soon.
