also I drew the 2006 vitoline logo instead of the 2017 one because I looked at the wrong reference lol. ALSO I based his fire suit design off his diecast but I didn't realize his movie version is different from the diecast but I hope I did chase racelott justice anyway!! hope you like him and ty for the req sorry I took so long 💔

I headcanon Jackson as Korean, with English being the fourth language he knows. (English is behind Korean, Japanese, and then Russian)

My angry little man stands at 5'5- just like Cruz and Lightning- and it pisses him off to no end. He insists that he just hasn't hit his growth spurt yet-

He has gamer posture- which he pays the consequences for with back pain at such a young age. Ray gives him a shit ton of grief for it-

He's also a total weeb and absolutely cosplays his favorite characters in his spare time.

Do not ask him about his current brain rot anime unless you don't have anything else planned for the next 8 hours- he will info dump to you with reckless abandon-

His crew chief, Ray and his hauler, Gale, are like the parents that he never had and he loves them both dearly, even if he can't express that verbally a lot.

Autism(tm). He's a very low masker- (the exact opposite of The King, who I headcanon as a very high masker)- which makes a lot of things irritating for him. Too much noise, too much proximity, too many smells, trying to socialize, the erratic schedule of the racing season, etc.

Oh boy, that's a few characters. Alright, strap in then. Probably also gonna throw in Bubba because he's my favourite non-main next gen <3

(Quick disclaimer for this one, none of these are supposed to reflect on the irl racers that gave their names and voices to them - I'm treating these characters as though they're entirely fictional and not based on/inspired by real people. I make my HCs literally just based on Vibes (and RPs))

Jackson Storm:

6'1 and fit AF. Clearly spends a lot of time in the gym toning his body and muscles. He is male model levels of gorgeous. Physically flawless black man <3

Short black dreadlocks dyed blue at the ends.

Aromantic (female-leaning)bisexual.

Autistic.

Ray knew he was autistic before Jackson even knew himself, and is the reason he even got diagnosed in the first place.

One of his most common complaints is still about the reflections of the sun glinting in his eyes. The loud noise of the track still gets to him occasionally, but he has special earplugs to help him deal with it.

Can usually be seen drinking a can of IGNTR's flagship energy drink before a race. It helps him calm down and focus in. His sponsors love it, for obvious reasons.

Any time he's on camera, he acts calm and cool but internally he's freaking out. If they ask something he doesn't expect, he visibly tenses up and flounders for a second as he tries to figure out what to say, even if it was a simple question.

Doesn't do fan meets or signings unless he absolutely has to. Even then he tries everything he can to get out of them.

His physical attractiveness makes his already poor attitude even worse. Doesn't know how to talk to people, but gets all the praise and attention he could ever want online.

Yes, he posts photos of himself on various social media. He wasn't sure at first, but Ray convinced him to start shortly after his debut race, hoping that it would help reassure him and give him a bit of a confidence boost. Naturally, it went a little TOO well...

He's a gamer through and through. In any downtime he gets, he's still topping the leaderboards on just about every popular racing game you can play online. He also enjoys the occasional game of CoD and will verbally rip anyone to shreds if they try to come at him.

DUBSTEP. He loves it. If his skull isn't rattling from absolutely filthy, grimy bass, he's not interested.

So, of course, he has to have an incredible sound system that's probably worth more than the average person's car.

He doesn't watch anime. (Stop asking him if he does) Most of his entertainment comes from Twitch streams.

He streams himself playing Super Corsa 4 any chance he gets. Which isn't often with the packed NASCAR schedule, but he tries his best. His user is UrStormChasing

Still doesn't get along with Tim after their rivalry in training and isn't very good at pretending he does either. Their crew chiefs have to make deliberate efforts to stop them from running into each other before they get into their cars.

Cruz Ramirez:

5'5 with an athletic build. She is a Latina woman with visible abs and she deserves them gdi.

Side-parted brown hair a little shorter than jaw length, perpetually kinda wild looking.

Chaotic lesbian hours!

Literally cannot sleep at night without a big, milky mug of coffee.

It's not normal to wake up and go for a run before even having breakfast?

She's teaching Lightning to use social media more regularly (for better or for worse). His homework is to send her a funny meme or video that he found that week.

The result of this can sometimes be catastrophic. She'll never be able to unhear him uncertainly attempting to use outdated slang.

Almost every race, there's someone complaining about how she doesn't weigh enough and it's unfair to the rest of them. So she forces them to watch as race officials put extra weights in her car.

Has cussed Danny out in Spanish across Pit Road and will do it again if he carries on-

Is probably the only person on Team Dinoco that is actually nice to Cal and doesn't try to tease him. They get along well.

Tim Treadless:

6'0 with a broad frame and light muscle tone.

Tanned skin and tousled brown hair.

Straight ally.

Just call him Mr. Charismatic, everyone loves him.

Everyone except Jackson, that is. Jackson is the only person who brings out his anger to the point of wanting to throw hands.

Has a wife and a baby, bc of course he does.

One of those guys some people hate for being irritatingly perfect. Usually people that don't actually know him.

Has type 1 diabetes and a bad nut allergy.

Was pulled out of a race at the last minute when he went into anaphylactic shock - the entire race was almost stopped when people started to whisper that it was foul play. The race went on, but the only reason for Treadless' absence was that he had to be pulled for "unforseen medical issues".

Some of the other racers still blame Jackson, who actually had nothing to do with it.

Danny Swervez:

5'10 and fairly slender. Not a lot of bulk to him.

Tanned skin (he's Latino) and short black hair.

Cishet male.

This man is FULL of himself. What an attitude.

Genuinely a good racer, but not many people like him.

He's not a good guy. He's given Cruz some trouble for being a woman, though after she embarrassed him by publicly cussing him out in Spanish, he's learned to keep his unpopular opinions on her to himself.

Isn't exactly what we would call "faithful".

But hey, at least he doesn't cheat on the track (smh)

Has just as little respect for the older racers as Jackson, but is less vocal about it.

Is very bitter about Jackson and Tim being more popular than him, yet still does nothing to change himself for the better.

Has at least attempted to physically fight with other drivers that messed with him on the track several times.

Chase Racelott:

5'9 with a build somewhere between Danny and Tim.

Pale skin and dirty-blonde hair.

Straight ally.

Generally a pretty likeable guy. Not as well-loved as Tim, but he has a good amount of pretty dedicated fans.

Makes jokes about being single/available.

Has pretty average performance on the track, not great, but not poor.

Fairly high energy, he gets along well with Cruz.

Probably one of the best with kids. Has a lot of younger fans because of how he interacts with them during meets and signings.

One of the few who will try not to leave until he's spoken to every fan who wanted to meet him, no matter how long it takes.

Often seen hanging around with Ryan - the two of them cause some pretty good natured trouble together, often involving pranks on the other racers.

Ryan "Inside" Laney:

5'11 with a broad build similar to Tim.

Mixed race (¾ Caucasian, ¼ African American), with short black hair.

Closeted bisexual.

Friendly, but not really a standout character as far as the fans are concerned.

Kind of cocky, but in a cool way.

Has a girlfriend who travels with him.

Agent of chaos when he spends too much time with Chase. Don't turn your back on him.

Bubba Wheelhouse

Absolutely massive 6'2 gentle giant

Another gorgeous black man (fight me), his skin tone isn't quite as dark as Jackson's

Closeted homosexual

Has a fake relationship with a lesbian woman who's actually just his best friend (the racing world is scary and the US South probably wouldn't love an openly gay driver)

Kids ADORE him. Him and Chase are the drivers with the most kid fans.

Throws a football around with fans over the catch fence during rain delays (this one is based on the real Bubba Wallace bc its wholesome af)

Gets asked all the weird gay questions by everyone in the friend group. (Ex. "Is it gay if...?" "What is X actually like?")

Legit just trying to mind his own business, he doesn't want any part of drama or rivalries.

Occasionally finds himself roped into girl talk if the guys have their S/Os around. They're very excited to include him. He's too polite to decline.

And as for HtB's slogan, that just... makes a lot of sense on why Chick is the way he is- it's practically a criminal law group. It's a banking company for hostile acquisitions-... yeah. And his Next-gen racer replacement popped up in my view? Oh, absolutely it makes sense. (For those who don't know HtB got a diecast for a Next-gen racer- His name is Rowdy Revvin' Busch.)

Vitolines also made me laugh bc its basically vitamin water for cars 😭 its so cute- Chase and Brick having to say that in commercials makes me giggle,,

Octain Gain's my favorite- thinking of Danny and Bobby having to say thay makes so much sense to me

Dinoco having that's also cute because it's just imagining Cal and Strip in their little accents- and Cruz later on-

Chapter 1: Chases first day

Day 1

Wow I’m actually writing a diary; it was recommended by Ray, Jacksons trainer that I write my thoughts out in this, so I’m not distracted by feelings during training as he said. It’s weird I never thought I’d be writing a diary; I should start by introducing myself.

Hi! My name is Chase I'm 18 and I’m an up and coming racer in the piston cup. I’ve been training since I was a young car. I watched every piston cup race and tried to convince my parents to take me to races. I joined smaller tracks growing up and excelled being in the top 3 every race. I wanted to be first, so I never stopped bettering my technique, but I knew I needed to learn more. When I saw the advertisement that this racing centre was looking for up and coming racers, I took my chance and applied. As you can tell I was accepted and here I am.

Upon arriving at the centre, I was given a tour of the facilities there were training simulators, wind tunnels, and more I was excited to get training, I was informed that I would be given a trainer which made me even more excited, I don’t know who they’re going to be until tomorrow but I’m hoping its someone I can work well with.

 After being shown the centre I was shown my room, I’m rooming with some racers called Ryan, Aiden, and Jackson. So far, they seem pretty chill except for Jackson, Jackson seems more defensive, he doesn’t talk much and seems to keep to his own corner of the room. I think maybe he’ll open up at some point.

After lunch me and my roommates found out we are in an assigned group meaning we will spend a lot of our time together especially during group trainings and will rarely mingle with the other teams I’m ok with that at least we’re not isolated from each other that makes me happy.

Jacksons trainer Ray who Jackson calls Gus led us to a room we weren’t shown within our tour, we had our paint removed and changed to primer except for our spoilers and the edges of our body’s I was assigned the colour green and the number 17, its weird. We then had these probes connected to our bodies apparently, they track our vitals and stats, I guess it makes sense in order to keep us healthy when training. The others had different colours and numbers Ray said it's how the other members of the training centre will refer to us.

The probes feel weird on my body I hope the feeling goes away soon its annoying.

After sorting out our paint, numbers and colours Ray took us to the main area of the training centre giving us an in-depth tour of what each machine does and how we use it.

The simulator simulates racing on a real track and collects data based on how we race. He also said at some point we will get to go to the nearby racetrack to race each other and get used to the track, I’m excited for that. He even said our trainers would book for private track time to train I’m excited for that too.

The treadmills were pretty simple they just let us either go as fast as we have a set limit set by our trainers as a type of workout, there also TVs they can have displays set by our trainers to motivate us or as an exercise to better us a racers.

The wind tunnel was fun feeling the difference of the air flowing over you and how it changed based on how we sat on the track, if I sit lower on the track the wind flows over me easier. When we’re watching everyone else in the wind tunnel you can see the wind flowing over them it’s really cool.

Ray showed us the small race track out the back of the centre it was there to help us practice pitting, learn the flag meanings and practice how we would line up before a race. The smaller track was cool it reminded me of the tracks I used to race on as a kid just slightly bigger.

The last area that Ray showed us was strange it was a big empty room with large speakers in the corner, according to ray it was a room for trainers to take their racers to motivate them or simulate different situations like what they’d hear if there was a crash, or the sound of a busy racetrack. He said that music can be played and some of the other group would be put its the room together to socialize it's kind of funny.

For the rest of the day Ray kind of just supervised us as we got acquaintance to each other and the areas. Ryan was nice he has a competitive spirit but is also willing to make friends, I think he’s going to be a nice group member.

Aiden is kind of rude he doesn’t give off an “Approach me” feel, based on how he acted he seems more defensive like Jackson but also more of an anger outgoing personality.

Jackson, I think going to be chill, towards the end of our session with Ray he seemed fidgety and like he was going to get mad or something, he kept to himself or by Rays side The last thing we all decided to do was to race each other on the simulators.

Ryan and I versed each other, and Jackson and Aiden versed each other. I lost against Ryan, but I don’t mind, Aiden lost against Jackson and wasn’t too happy about it and went and pouted in the corner.

 The last race was between Ryan and Jackson, Ryan one fair and square but Jackson got mad, he started going on about how Ryan was cheating or something, he stormed out and Ray sent the rest of us off to go get dinner.

I didn’t see Jackson after that. The next time I saw Jackson he seemed really tired, we were in our room, he’s asleep now, so is Ryan and Aiden.

That’s going to be all for now, I should sleep I have a big day tomorrow. I'm excited.

Can I please get a small writing prompt of lightning McQueen ( if him and Sally were just friends) is a single bisexual and all the new gen racers try to get him a date lol 😆 or get him to go on a date with them 😉

My favorite part of these next gen asks you send me is that it implies that the next gens actually like Lightning and try to involve him in their shenanigans, and it just makes me really happy okay?!

Not sure if your looking for a fic/ficlet or if you just want some headcanons, so I’m gonna go with headcanons if that’s okay! (I wrote most of this out during my lunch break at work so if it’s not great that’s why)

Here’s how I think the next gens would react to finding out Lightning is bi and single:

Tim: surprised to find out McQueen is single, not surprised at all to know he’s bi. He’s seen the interviews from the WGP and there’s no heterosexual explanation for how him and Francesco interact.

Ryan: tries to set him up on a blind date, but McQueen politely declines the offer; he’s okay being single for now.

Chase and Bubba: are very indifferent to the whole thing. This information changes absolutely nothing about how they perceive Lightning. They have no interest in McQueen’s love life, but are entertained by how much the other racers seem to care.

Danny: Thinks it’s great that McQueen is open about his sexuality and love life. He joins in with the rest in trying to set him up with someone. Starts a betting pool with the other racers to see who’ll get McQueen a date first.

Cruz: immediately half-jokes that McQueen and Jackson should go out on a date (I say half-jokes because she can totally tell they both find each other attractive so she’s really trying to play matchmaker here)

Jackson: acts like he doesn’t give af, but is secretly trying to work up the courage to ask Lightning out. He didn’t even realize Lightning was bi until all the next gens started discussing his love life, and while he won’t admit it to anyone he got a little excited/hopeful that he could have a chance with the racing legend
