No-one Knows What it’s Like

Now that Dean and Cas have finally stowed their shit, they can’t keep their hands off each other. They’re in that honeymoon phase where they take every opportunity to...well, let’s just say Sam’s seen and heard just about enough.  During a missing person’s case in a quiet town in the Ozarks, Dean gets hit with a curse that prevents him from being within twelve inches of any living thing...Cas included. While Sam stays behind to work the case, Dean and Cas try to navigate the new limitations of their relationship.  Can Sam find the answers before Dean and Cas internally combust?

But think about Finn and Slip slap boxing or play fighting but it becoming serious and real because of the pent up emotion, anger, and resentment on Finn’s part because of what he thinks is unrequited affection combined with Slip’s use of aggression to cover the affection he has for Finn.

Or Finn and Slip wrestling together in a practice room and it turning into a tickle fight and them laughing and breathless until Nines interrupts and they abruptly separate because they know what it looks like--what it is--but can’t let anyone know. 

Think about how Finn always went back for Slip because “he’s one of us” until Phasma commanded him to stop and Slip noticing that Finn stopped coming back for him and that fueling his sense of abandonment and being what led him to laugh at Finn when the older Stormtroopers laughed at Finn for not having a proper nickname, for not belonging. And that laughter from Slip being what convinced Finn that Slip didn’t actually care for or love him, even though nothing could be further from the truth. 

Think about how that moment on Jakku, with the life leaving Slip’s body and him using the last bit of strength and energy in his body to reach out to touch Finn one last time. Think about how Finn sobbed and heaved from the grief and resolved to not only leave, but to also save at least one innocent--Poe--from the clutches of the First Order, not for himself, but for Slip, for his memory.

Apparently Flip is contagious and I can't stop thinking: what if Slip DID have Feelings for Finn? Courageous, competent, kind Finn, always waiting, always reaching for him, how could he not love him? Finn always one step off from the group, one step ahead, Slip too afraid to step out from the crowd and join him, even though he wanted to. Finn wanting to step back into the crowd and join Slip but being unable to due to his innate Finn-ness. Slip following behind Finn, telling himself that [1/2]

[2/2] when he could support Finn, not hinder him, then he would answer the longing he saw in Finn’s eyes that he painfully ignored now. Slip wanting to reach out for Finn like Finn always reached out to him, as equals. When he finally does reach for Finn with shaking, bloody fingers, even though he never caught up, because he wanted to touch him at least once, neither able to see the longing in each other’s eyes, the tears. Finn strains toward Slip so hard he Awakens to know, in the end, he was loved.
