omg you are on what episode?? *still trying to finish S1* ;) I'm going to have to start bookmarking your write ups so that I can find them when I catch up!

Aaah, I’m still behind as well! :P Every time I get myself together and say “I’m going to keep watching and catch up!” I spend 3 days in a row horizontal and delirious and watching Orphan Black. :P  (It honestly takes me a day to watch an episode of anything even if I’m not taking notes because my attention span has got so bad. Eurgh.)

I’m tagging them all specifically so I can find them again with my old rewatching tag from the really delirious re-watches I did over the last few months :P (If you go back to the beginning the one for 8x08 is still my favourite ridiculous post :P) Seemed easier than coming up with another tag. So you can find them all there without cluttering up your bookmarks. :3

One of my favourite stale fanfic tropes: Fake Boyfriends/couple/married etc

Hmmmm this is a very interesting one, I’m actually having a hard time coming up with an original twist on this one :)

Usually when this trope is used it’s because pretending to be a couple provides safety for them, right? A cover when they are investigating a case, when they need to go incognito, when people thinking of them as a couple helps them blend in with their surroundings, or project the image people expect to see of them, right? because it’s safer or beneficious in their situation.

So how about pretending to be a couple when it’s actually a danger to them? They live in a very oppresive regime where queerness is totally forbidden, and they’re both queer but they’re not in love with each other, they simply are political activists protesting, being as offensive to the regime as they possibly can be, and through that dangerous reivindicative relationship they actually end up falling in love.

Or if you wanna go a more sci-fi/fantastical route, they live in a society where falling in love and forming relationships based on love, instead of govenrment assigned partners, is entirely forbidden, and also because of political reasons, they pretend to be in love, as an act of protest, and it evolves into actual love :)

Send me an ask with a stale fanfic trope and I’ll throw back an idea on how to make it fresh again.

It looks great! Love the (oh gosh brain fog) mouse thing. The links that I tried seemed to work. The hover and reveal link descriptions appeared. The pictures and the fish are fantastic :D No obvious problems that I can see. I really like it!
