     Mina had been over to check on Ochako, who had slipped away from dinner early while the others were busy making weekend plans.  They hadn't noticed; but Mina had.  Call it dumb luck that her inability to focus on the conversation had let her pay attention to everything else instead.

     Cracking open the door a bit only to be greeted by a request to be left in the dark with music...well, Mina could comply while still attempting to help.  Ochaco didn't specify 'alone' after all.  Slipping through the slightly open door and closing it behind her, Mina walked over and quietly sat down on the floor- near her friend's bed.  There she listened to the playlist of songs as well, staying mostly silent before turning her head to look at the other.

     Then she began to softly sing along with the song, wondering if her quiet company was actually comforting in any small capacity.   "All by myself.  Don't wanna be, all by myself, anymore."

     "Uraraka…?"  Staring slightly at the other, Midoriya couldn't help but wonder if his dear friend and classmate was okay.  Normally when someone screamed, it was either out of stress or because something bad was happening.  Nothing bad seemed to be actively occurring… so stress then?  They were going to have a difficult test in Present Mic’s class within the next few days.

     Still, not wanting to pry, he gave an affirmative nod to Ochako.  "Well, if you do, then I'll scream with you!”  That way, if people stared, maybe they’d look at him funny rather than at her.  Stress plus weird looks didn’t really go well together.  “We can go outside, and just shout at the sky if you want.”

The boy’s been bedridden for a while now, and still he tried to keep a smile on his face and a boisterous attitude. “Sorry for making you worry! I guess sleeping in a sauna is really bad, huh?”

     There was a soft warmth in Midoriya’s chest as Ochako spoke.  As she went on about strength, speed, the ability to save.  He couldn’t fight the faint smile on his lips, as much as he wanted to will it down.  She was sweet, kinder than he felt he deserved.  Feeling the start of tears welling up in his eyes, he wiped across them with his sleeve quickly.  A faint subconscious tone telling him not to cry, as much as he wanted to.

    “Well…”  He started, glancing over to the other with that same soft smile.  “Do you know what I see?  Someone who cares about how others are- how they’re feeling.  Someone willing to put themselves at risk to protect the people they care about.  Someone who is unwavering in her goals, and will save anyone and everyone she can.  Someone strong willed enough, that the world would sooner cave in around itself than it would be able to stop you from what you strive for.”

    Perhaps it was cheesy, or a bit much, but Midoriya couldn’t help it.  To him, Uraraka was one of the strongest people he knew.

     “Uraraka…?”  Midoriya’s voice was a bit quiet, gaze turning up to her as she asked her question.  A very difficult question indeed, one that left him sitting there with his mouth slightly agape.  How was he supposed to respond?  How to answer a question that he himself hadn’t fully figured out?

    So he glanced down, focusing slightly on his hands.  On the marks that littered the arm which he’d broken time and time again whilst trying to save people.  Trying to force Todoroki to embrace his own power.  Trying to save Kota from Muscular’s assaults.  And he’d pushed himself hard enough in order to succeed.  Perhaps this wasn’t a question he could overthink.

    “You don’t.  People think in those moments there’s enough time to make the choice, but really...you act first.”  Izuku looked up, eyes steady on Ochako, a slight smile on his face.  An attempt at comfort.  “You act first, and save as many lives as you can.  Then you push yourself to hell and back to save the rest.”  That’s what a hero does, right?  Save lives.  Save lives, and provide comfort to those who are concerned.

There was some irony in the fact his quirk made him one of the FASTEST in their class yet he still always felt like he couldn’t catch up to some of their stronger friends who at times seemed unstoppable.
