Let’s talk about selling your artworks In my previous post, I talked about why I think it’s paramount to promote your artwork. Now, I want to talk about why it’s important that you actually try to sell your artwork if you're an artist. It’s vital to know that if you are going to promote your art, you will need to BELIEVE that it is worth promoting . You cannot expect someone to buy your art if you do not think that it is worth buying. And this is something I completely struggle with. The reason why I used to donate all the proceeds made from selling my artworks was that I did not believe it was worth buying. I also thought knowing all the money goes to charity will encourage more potential customers to put their trust in my artwork. And that was OK. I learned that people perceive my artworks differently. Some people told me that I need to trust myself more and they even offered to pay more than what I asked. Others told me that I need to get back with my feet on the ground because nobody would pay a price that high for something they don’t really need, art is an item of luxury and is therefore not essential. Some didn’t say anything because they probably wanted to be respectful, but most likely fell into that 2nd category. And that’s OK as well. The beauty of humanity lies in diversity. I respect all points of view. But I prefer to actually have my own. I want to at least TRY TO BELIEVE IN MYSELF. I want to at least try to promote and sell my artworks. Maybe I will do it badly, maybe I will fail, or maybe I will learn to do it better in the future. Bottom line is that I need to start from somewhere. And so should you. That being said, I have made some decisions which I think will show that I have finally agreed to take on full accountability of who I am as an artist. Expect to hear more about it in the days to come. This will also be my 2nd entry for #floralforfun week 3 :) (at Brussels, Belgium) https://www.instagram.com/p/CMhqBuPhQ2P/?igshid=1u6s3v5aipwvp
Let’s talk about promoting your artworks I firmly believe art is fundamental to our humanity. Art ennobles and inspires us—fostering creativity, goodness, and beauty. Art helps us express our values, build bridges between cultures, and brings us together regardless of ethnicity, religion, etc. Moreover, art is accessible to each and every human being, regardless of where you are in the world, you can still draw, you can still sing, you can still be creative… you can still create ART. This is why I think it’s important that all artists, big or small, experienced or still at the beginning, should promote their works. If you call yourself an artist, you should at least try. It’s also important to know that promoting your work and selling it are two different things. First of all, promoting your art requires getting eyes on it. Social media is one way, exhibitions, galleries, word of mouth, etc, there are a multitude of ways to reach that goal. I’m not here to tell you how to do that, that is something each artist can choose to do on their own depending on their work and preferences. In my future posts I can talk about my specific preferences and why I think they work for me. Would that be something you are interested to know more about? Do you think promoting your artwork is important? Why? Also, this will be my first entry for week 3 of #floralforfun hosted by @monali3832, @artsybeats and @hue.by.reshu and my first host entry for week 3 of #ARTONMARS2021 (at Brussels, Belgium) https://www.instagram.com/p/CMcgjNXBOqG/?igshid=lsb06jynp7mz
