i'm really sorry to hear about sasha :( i really enjoyed every post you made about them, they just seemed to interesting and cool. losing a beloved pet is never easy, and always sucky to go through. my condolences.

It was really sucky, I knew it was coming in the final months as things deteriorated, and time has passed and I’m ready to try again. I’m not done keeping eels, I absolutely love them. I’ll keep everyone posted when I’m ready.

I had a very venom-filled Christmas

hi! i was curious if you purchased your new tank for your beardie or purchased it somewhere; i'm looking to upgrade my girl's tank myself and am curious :)

Yeah that tank was a bit of a headache actually!

I originally tried to get one custom made in those dimensions, but the place making it wouldn’t call me back or update me for months at a time, and when I called about it they kept saying they couldn’t get glass to fit the dimensions etc etc so I wound up going to a reptile specialist shop and explaining what I wanted, and they were like “oh we get those in a few times a year” so they ordered it special and I got it within the week! Like magic! 

So basically, reptile shops tend to Know What’s Up when it comes to sourcing a larger than average tank. But if you’re in the USA (or even the UK) you should have a few more options than I did. There’s a few places I found that were building those sizes but they wouldn’t ship overseas. If you can buy directly from those places instead of going through a shop for your order you might save some money! 

But I definitely would recommend upgrading to anyone thinking about it because honestly, even at 9 years old my girl is THRIVING in this bigger tank. It’s just so nice to look at them having space to breathe and move beyond the minimum. 

You can add more stuff, too, which I was hype af about! So much more driftwood, basking areas of different temperatures, more hides, I was even able to provide a lay box that didn’t take up half the tank. It was a corner feature! It’s so much fun. If you need any more help or have trouble sourcing one, let me know and I’ll try to help. I definitely came across a few places abroad in my search. And tag me if/when you get one, too. I love seeing people’s enclosures! ^_^
