do you have anything to say about Q and Jin’s relationship? Or anything about Florian?

I wrote a little bit about Q and Jin in my overview of Season 2. I don’t feel too strongly about their relationship, but I didn’t like how Jin’s blatant homophobia was never addressed. XO, Kitty missed an opportunity to portray what life is like for closeted queer men in Korea.

I was never a big fan of Florian as a character, but I hated the way his ending was handled. Cheating classmates always annoyed me when I was in school, but academic dishonesty is not a justification for forcing someone into an openly hostile homophobic environment. Nobody deserves that. The conditions of Dae’s room and board scholarship felt unrealistic, as if the writers were scrambling for a reason to turn the audience against Florian.

Also, it’s frustrating to see fans use Q & Jin to draw attention away from how poorly the writers treat the sapphic characters: “see, XO, Kitty can’t be homophobic because they gave us a happy gay couple!” We could always use more mlm representation of course, but it’s not fair to ignore how poorly the wlw characters were treated.
