Thought Florida's flag could use some reworking, here's my take! [Symbolisms in comments]
from /r/vexillology Top comment: Shapes: The red cross in the center is a reference to the Spanish Cross of Burgundy, NOT to the Confederacy. The white border around the red cross represents the white sandy beaches of Florida. The orange background can represent the abundance of oranges grown in the state, as well as the water colour when the sun is just rising. The white flower in the middle is an orange blossom, the state flower, and each of the 5 petals represents the 5 biggest cities in Florida, Jacksonville, Miami, Tampa, Orlando, and Tallahassee. The petals come together to form the entire state of Florida. The orange disc in the center of the flower represents the sun, as Florida is known as "The Sunshine State". The orange lines coming from the disc into the petals represents the sun's rays basking all of Florida in warm sunshine. Colours: Red, orange, and white are colours that tend to be closely associated with Florida and Spain, the empire that once rules Florida but has greatly influenced the culture of Florida.
