I’m back in the Hell State for Christmas! Which means looking wistfully at all my kitchen stuff and art supplies that I left here 2 years ago, that I was told by Colin’s mom she would drive up to us AT THE LATEST a year ago, insisting it’d be cheaper than the moving truck I was completely willing to get and now really wish I had.
Some of which was meant to be in the car we drove up to Ohio, but at the last minute she decided to helpfully “rearrange” it. She replaced some Pretty Dang Necessary boxes with stuff we didn’t need at all, but at least she made the trunk into a more satisfying Tetris grid.
So over the last 2 years we’ve had to ask beg her to send stuff piecemeal, like my scanner and my comics and my old laptop. Which she complains about the effort and cost of sending. The first of which she took so long to even bring to the post office that I just straight-up bought a new one in order to meet a deadline.
And now that I’m here, I’m reminded that a lot of my stuff hasn’t even been kept in the same place, so I have to hound her and ask “and where did you put that one thing, that HUGE UNMISSABLE FURNITURESQUE THING that I had stuffed full of Important Things” and she formulates the most worrying phrases in response, like “I don’t know what that is, but I’m sure it must be around here somewhere”.
It would be more comforting if my birth certificate had just grown legs and walked away. At least then it could take care of its own self in the Floridian heat and humidity.
(I just opened a box and inside it something plasticky, I am scared to find out what, has melted.)
The minute I got in the door she started telling me how she has so much time on her hands right now. AAAHA. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.
If you want something done at all, you gotta do it yourself. So I have 4 days to learn how to hot-wire an SUV.
