It was rare, the moments when it was just the two of them. In fact, Myrcella firmly believed a part of her unconsciously avoided being alone with him. She didn’t trust herself. Ever since their eyes met again during the coronation ceremony, there had been a clear tension between them, a tension filled with unsaid words, a tension that made her nervous and cause her heart to hammer within her chest whenever he was close.
It was in one of those rare moments that Myrcella had lost control. They had been discussing nonsense, talking about the weather and the sky so to not think about the obvious. All it had taken was one look, one simple look into bright blue hues and she had been lost.
She had brought him closer to her, it had been her who forgot all about her lady manners and pulled him into a deep kiss. And for a moment, a moment when she wasn’t thinking, it all felt too right. It felt as if that’s how it was supposed to be. But realization came too soon. The same woman pushing him away and taking hurried steps back in horror of her own behavior.
❛ I apologise. I– I should be going. ❜
Without Myrcella’s presence, Robb knew that he already would be long on his way back to Winterfell. He should already be on his way back to Winterfell. But he had this feeling that once he did, he wasn’t going to see her again for years. And that thought sat so heavily in his gut that instead, he sought out her presence again and again.
And she didn’t seem to mind.
They walked out in the gardens most often. She showed him all the places she remembered, and Robb wondered if his father had wandered the same paths. He looked at her more often than he didn’t, and wondered if she minded that.
She never seemed to.
And somehow, one of those times, under the half shadow of a freshly greening tree, she tipped her head up to him and kissed him, and he hadn’t felt this alive in a long time.
So when Myrcella drew away with a look of fright on her face and stuttered out some apology, Robb only crossed the distance between them once more, cradled her face in his hands, and kissed her again.
