[[ Unfortunately, I don’t think Bob’s hubris would allow that kind of reasoning to cross his mind. :\ It would be nice if it did though, as it’s pretty clear that he hasn’t actually gotten to know, or even talked to, real people who have experienced real trauma, toxic cultural conditioning, dysfunctional families or other hallowing circumstances. It’s also clear that he hasn’t or bothered to read about those things either. It’s the kind of stuff that an author shouldn’t make up, it isn’t like fanfic authors who’ve never had gay sex making up sexy stuff for their fics. A weird smut scene is humorous at worst but poor portrayal and misrepresentation of serious issues that people struggle with, especially by a published author who’s well-known enough to be considered a public figure, can be and is outright damaging because it fosters and validates problematic ideas towards those people. ]]

like togashi has so much he wants to show that he knows will be super awkward if characters say/think it within the incredibly limited amount of time everything takes place in, so a narrator is the best thing for him to use
and again the narrator makes this feel like a story that happened a long time ago so i just love it!

[[ You’re super welcome! Quick note though, “toxic” is separate from “cultural conditioning”, for Googling purposes. I think if you looked up the three words together, you’d get directed to biology research papers or something like that. XD
In any case, cultural conditioning, indoctrination, brainwashing, and those kinds of psychological programming all fall under the same general umbrella of an individual or a group of people who try to shape the way others in their society think, often with the usage of unpleasant techniques. There are a ton of real world examples of this sort of practice, but I won’t delve into the details publicly. You should be able to find examples easily enough, but if not, let me know and I’ll give you some specific things to look up to get an understanding of the extreme cases. Speaking in terms of fantasy though, drow Lolthite society is supposed to be a prime example of rather extreme indoctrination, which is really ironic because you’d think that Bob would research it more given that his whole premise is that Drizzt is an individual who manages to break free of all of that. It might be understandable for a character who has gone through conditioning (i.e. Drizzt) to not fully understand the lingering effects of what often leaves long term trauma. However, speaking as a survivor of some really crazy shit that fall under this topic, the fact that Drizzt and his “heroic” friends go on to do things that would realistically further damage victims of trauma is something that I wish I didn’t have to see anyone who considers themselves a storyteller/writer/author not just validate, but celebrate.
So really, instead of you thanking me, I should be the one thanking you for being willing to learn more about it. ]]

Good grief, an entirely action -focused book... I don't even enjoy reading fight scenes when good authors write them, let alone Bob....
[[ This might be a tough one for you then. I’d be happy to tell you some reasons that the book might be worth reading if you gave me an idea of what kinds of things you enjoy and/or look for from them. But yeah, it is very combat-heavy, and, to put it politely, Bob hasn’t really improved despite his decades of writing combat. >_> ]]

Holy shit, that came out fantastic???? What were you saying about not being able to color well? LIES
I’m still not where I want to be, but I think I did better here than I’ve ever done previously. I’m pretty pleased with how Jarlaxle came out overall, I wanted to make him appropriately black-skinned but there was a big risk losing him in the darkness. I think though that painting him with all the colors of the (Underdark) wind prevented that. xD I feel like I didn’t do as good of a job on Artemis, I worry that reads as too purple because of his shading, not to mention as pale-skinned instead of brown-skinned. :\ But the upside of all of this is that I think I’ve managed to conquer my hurdle of feeling like my stuff looks better if I don’t color them. :D

I’m SO GLAD that you commented on that! :D While composing this piece, I wanted to show the interplay between the mental and physical top and bottom roles of these two in this intimate setting. Normally, the one receiving the “service” would be the physical top, and what’d often happen is that the top would grab onto the bottom’s head or some other body part to control his motions. However, Artemis isn’t doing that, because he’s not both the physical and the mental top. Even though Jarlaxle is technically acting the role of the physical bottom, he’s the mental top. Artemis wouldn’t be readily comfortable with being the physical bottom because of all of his insecurity and vulnerability issues, and that’s just fine with Jarlaxle, because they both know who has the reins in the situation. ;P But, Artemis wouldn’t be able to just lay back and take it, he can’t let Jarlaxle completely have his way because that’d destroy the illusion of his power too much, and so Jarlaxle’s wrist is a good point of resistance (as well as an anchor xD), but hardly detracts from Jarlaxle steering the wheel. ;)

I loved doing the details, probably the most out of anything. xD I felt some remorse after doing them because I had to blur them (for the background) or they’d be too small to see normally (in the full image). I know it’s probably narcissistic of me to include the blown-up versions but at least some good came of it. >_>

About selfie from Artemis... Can you imagine that few years ago I took a photo of myself and photoshopped it so I look like Artemis (you know, my version of artemis XD)? Best thing about it is that I only had to make my lips look bigger and add adam's apple and dark eyebrows? XD I was surprised myself ptfff. My photoshop skills are not great and I couldn't add stumble so he looks really clean and smooth hahaha
