Bonnet, The first messy layers on this girl. I was able to block in some color and highlights, but there’s still a lot of work to do.

Bonnet, More progress on this piece today, and I’m really loving how the flower is turning out. I’m hoping to finish her up tomorrow as she’s already taken longer than I anticipated.

Somewhere on the streets of Broken Hill in western NSW, this glorious show of eucalyptus flowers. Even more interesting than the soft pink of the flowers themsleves is the intense coral colour of the buds, shortly before they burst. See how they start soft orangy-green but then turn the intense coral. It is these that become the well-known “gum nuts”. Notice also the spectacular pointed flower cap, techincally known as an operculum.
