Jasper is a Flower jasper
Okay so SU is fundamentally a children’s show, so all characters are likely to receive a redemption arc, and fans have wanted one for jasper for like,, forever. But I think it’s important how long it’s taken.
When people normally refer to “jasper” they will mean a gemstone that looks like this
However, Jasper in Steven universe looks like this
Which looks far more like this, a flower jasper gemstone

And how do flowers grow? Slowly. But once they’re grown they’re incredibly beautiful, despite their beginning stages being somewhat less pleasant.
A flower jasper is perfect for Steven universe’ jasper because that’s how her character needs to grow, slowly.
