Where to begin?
Might as well start with I'm a 21 year old female. 126 lbs. I went to a walk-in clinic for some antibiotics for a urinary tract infection on Monday, March 24, 2014. The nurse took my weight, blood pressure and a cup of my pee. The doctor came in and told me my urine was positive for bacteria, that I indeed did have a UTI. He checked me for kidney pain and handed me a prescription for cipro. I asked if it was the antibiotic that had been prescribed to me last time, several months ago in December, he assured me that it was (it wasn't) and that it 'was the best one.'
I went to CVS, picked up my prescription, the pharmacist asked me if I had any questions. I said no, not really.
I went home, I read through the information packet. Ciprofloxacin HCL. 500mg pills. Take twice a day. There is a risk for tendon problems, particularly in people who have had a transplant, have renal issues, or are older than 60 years old. I didn't think it was very relevant to me. I took note of the less serious side effects like head ache, diarrhea, etc. and took the first dose of medication. I wish I had done more research on google before I took this medication because if I had been fully informed of the risks that I was taking, I would have gone back and asked for something else.
