for anyone who’s not on life is strange twitter, someone just found out that you can actually see kate marsh walking on the roof through the window in jefferson’s class. just after victoria says “i think everybody has seen kate marsh by now”. very chilling.
(credit to J3nX24 on twitter for the discovery, they were playing the remastered but it looks like this also happens in the original)
For @parallaxd9! The process behind the recent commission I posted :)

App: Procreate. Notes under the cut for my thought process!!

I’m mostly focusing on the general layout, making sure everything is in a good place. I try drawing the characters from memory so I don’t fall into the references rabbit hole. If I take ages making them look accurate but then I have to move everything around, I usually start losing motivation. The brush is “eaglehawk” in the drawing folder in the classic library.
Starting to reference
I own the HTTYD2 artbook, which I had open next to me the whole time. It has some great Bewilderbeast concept art and renders to study! I turned down the opacity of the other layers so they didn’t distract me too much, but I could still see the differences between my memory and the actual design. The brush is “bruny” in the pencils folder in the Procreate library.
Sketch
I map out the quills on the Bewilderbeast, mostly following the artbook, but I avoid drawing every single one to keep the simple style I'm going for. I also segment the cliff into warped tube shapes to make it look more interesting. But it isn’t the main focus of the drawing, so I don’t worry about making it too detailed. (Still the same brush, i just decided to make it orange.)
Lineart
I started with a really small brush size (“dusky” in the pencils folder in the Procreate library) and went back with a larger brush size if I noticed something that needed defining. Usually to outline the characters or sections that overlapped or lines that were intersecting, but also if I just felt like it. I decided not to define the cliff at all, it felt like it would take too much attention and make the Bewilderbeast look smaller.
Colouring / final edits
I used “mintbush” in the basics folder in the Procreate library to add a gradient to the flat colours. I thought it added some nice texture while keeping the colours limited. The background was looking a little empty so I drew in some faint spikes so it looked like the environment continued in the distance. Then I added the text! The font is called “troubleside”.
