Felix x reader || Rainy Bones

the rain had been falling since morning—steady, soft, and unrelenting. the kind that made the air heavy and your body feel heavier. felix sat at the end of the couch with a blanket around his shoulders, a heating pad pressed against his lower back. you were on the other end, legs tucked under yourself, a familiar ache tracing up your spine.
neither of you said much at first. it was one of those quiet days where everything hurt just enough to make talking feel like effort. the sound of rain against the window filled the silence instead.
felix shifted and winced a little, trying to find a position that didn’t pull at the old injury he’d gotten from dance practice years ago. you glanced over, knowing that sound too well. he caught your eyes and gave a small smile.
“we’re a mess, huh?” he said softly.
you huffed a laugh. “yeah, but a matching mess.”
he reached out a hand, palm up. you took it, scooting closer until your knees brushed. the simple contact helped—just knowing you weren’t the only one feeling like your body had turned against you.
“does it hurt more when it rains?” he asked.
“always.” you leaned your head on his shoulder. “you?”
“yeah. joints feel like someone replaced them with rusty screws.” he let out a breathy chuckle, the kind that said he was trying to make light of it.
you pressed your thumb gently into his palm, grounding him. “guess the weather’s our enemy.”
“nah,” he murmured, leaning his head on yours. “we’ve survived worse.”
for a while, that was enough. the both of you sat there—aching, tired, but comfortable in each other’s quiet. sometimes he’d hand you the heating pad, and you’d swap when it was his turn. other times, he’d rest his hand on your back, not to fix it, just to remind you he was there.
by late afternoon, the room was dim. the only light came from the gray sky outside and the soft reflection of the tv that neither of you were really watching.
felix spoke again, voice small and sleepy. “you know what’s wild? it still feels like home when it’s like this.”
you smiled against his shoulder. “that’s ‘cause it is.”
he squeezed your hand once, gentle. pain might’ve filled both your bodies, but love filled the space between. and even on a rainy day, that was enough warmth to last.
