Where Markus calls Connor city-boy because he’s never left Detroit, and one weekend decides to spirit him away to a cute cabin out in the forest. Connor likes the way the leaves sound when he crunches through them, and enjoys the various delicious things Markus makes for them both. The best part of the weekend though is cuddling up with Markus in front of the fire, just the two of them and their dog.

For @rk1k-week prompt 5,  Early Mornings | Late Nights

Connor likes to stay in bed late on the days he doesn’t have to work. Markus, however, is up early any day of the week. He tries to entice Connor into going out for a run with him. No joy.

He takes Connor coffee in bed. When that doesn’t work, he sends their puppy, Peanut, to try and rouse him. When *that* doesn’t work - (because Peanut loves to snuggle with Connor almost as much as Markus does) - Markus tends to give in and head back to bed, himself.

(Connor definitely doesn’t do it on purpose.)

Apologies for the lack of posts lately! I’ve been busy, constantly tired and creatively blocked, so not the greatest combination. XD

That said, I’ve made (and written) a simple little something for a discord word prompt from @friendly-neighbourhood-writer: rain. Given we’ve had so much of it lately, it wasn’t difficult.

In my head, this is based in the rp-verse, with the two of them staying in the cabin for a long weekend. They’d planned on doing some hiking, maybe even taking the boat out on the lake. But when the rain sets in a mere hour after their arrival, they decide that a few days inside instead isn’t really such a bad thing.

(And Connor thinks it will do Markus good to just stop for a while.)

REST

Connor reached to touch the tired lines surrounding Markus’ eyes, suddenly glad for the rain. They’d been examining the little wooden rowboat when it had started. One large drop on the boat’s curved bottom, then another that made Markus yelp as it struck, cold and finding its way inside his collar.

“Maybe we should-” Connor began, and several more drops hit, a quick pat-pat-pat on the jetty. Markus was already reaching for his hand and together they sprinted for the cabin, whooping as the sky seemed to split beneath the weight of too much rain. 

Soaking and shivering, Connor filled the kettle and placed it on the stove while Markus stared out of the window. Not that there was much to see beyond the blur of wet, spirals of heavy rain.

“I’ll build a fire,” Markus offered, his hand curving Connor’s hip and his lips pressing to the back of Connor’s neck, the dripping hairline. “Down here, or-”

“I’ll bring the tea up. I need to get out of these clothes, anyway. So do you.”

Another kiss to Connor’s shoulder, this one much warmer. Tender. 

Now, some hours later, the fire had burnt away to embers but neither of them was cold.

Stirring under Connor’s fingertips, Markus murmured a sleepy what? Curled closer.

“Nothing. Rest. Just rest, love.”
