It starts with a conversation. Then Chris invites Markus for a coffee. (Chris apologizes for forgetting, Markus orders anyway, even though he doesn’t drink it.) Chris always shows genuine interest in how things are going with Markus and his people, and Markus isn’t sure why. Especially not when some of those same people once threatened his life. But Chris has never forgotten the way Markus stepped in, nor the words he said, and he’s grateful for the way things turned out. Markus might be looking for a measure of forgiveness for that night, but Chris is hoping for some of the same.
