I realized I was wasting an awful lot of peaceful looking deceased birdies so I decided to teach myself how to make "wet specimens." I started with a kiddo I did not know. This one came predeceased in an order of chicks I got through the mail. I don protective gear: goggles, respirator, and latex gloves. I used an insulin needle to inject the little guy with formalin acquired off Amazon. I both injected him AND used the needle to poke holes in him to hopefully help release any air I might have injected in to him as well as help facilitate fluid exchanged. I put lil chickie in a jar full of formalin where he will pickle for approximately 3 weeks. I will periodically jiggle the jar during this time so he continues to pickle and exchange his fluids. I will show the next steps when it's closer to time. #dead #formalin #wetspecimen #chick #fluidexchange #deadthingsinjars https://www.instagram.com/p/CcrXDnOshZE/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
