ALRIGHT I WILL ASK THEM ALL :D
OH LORD WHAT DID I DO
OK, well, get yourself some tea or something and then buckle up because you are in for a ride. I love talking about myself. The beast has been unleashed.
satyr: have you ever been drunk?Yes. Not shitfaced, because it takes quite a lot to get me there and I simply don’t feel the need to get to a point where I won’t remember anything the nextday, but I’ve definitely been “under the influence”. The time I felt it most was after the birthday party of a friend who lived across the country at the time, and we did a drinking game. Getting home by public transport definitely was interesting after that.
fairy: what would you call your aesthetic?I’ve already answered that one here.
scarab: have you ever eaten a bug?Yes, I’ve swallowed several flies by accident. The most memorable time was when I was about 10 years old and I was taking horseback riding lessons. Occasionally, a group of us would get to take one of the Shetland ponies and walk around with them in the forest nearby. At some point, one escaped and we were chasing after it. I was shouting its name and a fly zoomed right into my mouth. I coughed for about a week after that.
changeling: is there a part of yourself that you’re especially insecure about?Um, most parts, actually. I’ve always been very insecure about various parts of my body & my weight, but also about less tangible stuff, a.k.a. stuff that is on “the inside” (such as that I’m actually a really shit person and maybe everyone secretly hates me. Whoops, there it is).
faun: do you enjoy being outdoors?Yes, but in nature, not necessarily in the city. I grew up with a forest, the beach, dunes and fields literally all around me, so while lounging in a park or something is nice, it doesn’t really do anything for me.
siren: do you ever sing in the shower?Sure. Back when I still had flatmates, I used to only sing in the shower when I was home alone. Now that I have my own place, I sing everywhere. I’ve sort of made it a rule to not go all out after 10pm though, because I’m not sure how well my neighbours can hear me. (This is me singing, by the way.)
selkie: are you a strong swimmer?I used to be, yeah. I’m not sure if I still am, because I don’t get to swim all that much.
ghost: are you a shy person?I’ve already answered that one here.
phoenix: do you like hot weather?NO.
sprite: what is your favorite combination of colors? (ex. purple and blue, orange and pink)Autumn colours!
pixie: what is your favorite joke/pun?I’ve already answered that one here.
shapeshifter: if you could choose to switch places with any celebrity/actor/etc who would it be and why?Recently, I’ve been pretty obsessed with The Staves. I’d love to be one of them for a while. They’re kind of low-key famous in the sense that they can still go places without needing security or being mobbed, plus they make wonderful music.
dragon: would you rather grow wings and soar through the sky or grow gills and dwell in the water?I imagine flying would be the ultimate feeling of freedom, so I’d love to try that. But the sea is in my heart and soul and veins and she is my mother and I love her, so OF COURSE that’s what I would pick.
sylph: have you ever wished you were invisible? if so, when?Hmm. I’ve definitely thought about how cool it would be if I could become invisible, but I don’t think that’s quite the same thing. I used to be pretty obsessed with The Incredibles, and since I was a very shy, kinda awkward kid, Violet’s powers of invisibility and force fields obviously spoke to me A LOT.
angel: what are three things you love about one of your close friends? (you can name them or not)Screw the “one of”, I’m going with my fellow bandmembers.1. They are always there for me and each other. We are each other’s support system and we ROCK at it.2. We are flippin’ funny together. Seriously. We frequently comment to each other that we should have our own reality show.3. COMMUNICATION. I wasn’t used to this before I met these guys, but talking about stuff that bothers you and working on a way to fix it is a thing that actually exists.
griffon: what’s your favorite animal?I don’t knooooooow! Dogs? Cats? Wolves? I like whales and elephants too. Does it have to be a real animal? How about dragons?
succubus: are you a virgin?Yes. But I don’t like phrasing it like that, because I don’t like the way “virginity” is presented as something holy that we must preserve, as if it’s a tangible thing and not just a concept.
valkyrie: is there something that you would fight to defend? if so, what is it?Equal rights. I happen to be surrounded, both in real life and on social media, by so many people who are directly affected by the inequality (especially LGBTQA+ wise) that is still rampant in our society and it makes me SO angry. Yeah, I’d punch someone in the nose for that.
gnome: what’s your favorite plant or flower? Are trees OK too? I like birches and oaks, and I’m very partial to my avocado tree that I’m growing myself. ;) I also like snowdrops and sunflowers and succulents.
doppelganger: do you know anyone who looks like you?Not EXACTLY like me, no. But I do see a lot of my features on both sides of my family. I guess I’m a pretty successful mix of both my parents.
goblin: what do you fear losing the most? One of my very serious fears is a housefire. (I don’t even like to talk about it, as if that might somehow make it happen.) So I guess I’m afraid of losing a lot of things. It’s just that I’m such an introvert, and a bit of a hermit, that I don’t know what I’d do if I lost my special nest in this world.
mandrake: when was the last time you screamed out loud and what were the circumstances? Not sure... I’m always doing funny voices and stuff so I fake scream a lot when I’m among friends and when I’m bantering with co-workers, but I definitely don’t go all-out on those occasions. I’m also not someone who screams when startled, and I don’t raise my voice to a scream when I’m having an argument with someone. I think the last time I full-on screamed was on a rollercoaster?
Thanks for asking... I guess? :P

maybe you could ask a friend who’s had therapy how they started? Also if you dont know where to start or what to say to them, then tell them that. They’ll help you along/get started. Also, if you dont know where to start therapy, most uni’s in NL offer a small number of free sessions with a therapist connected to the uni. You could start there and then they could help you look into where to go after those first sessions :) good luck, and remember everything will be okay!
well, incidentally one of my sisters is also in therapy for something i’m not going to mention here, and our GP (i almost wrote home doctor here, huisarts) just referred her to a specific practice. it’s just that my mum insists that, while she’s scheduling an appointment with our GP for me, i should (be able to) call a therapist whose name i just happen to randomly get through asking. which is harder for me than i’d expected, apparently. and i’m not really in any uni, so it’d feel a bit weird to just call one’s counselor out of nowhere.
i don’t know what i’m going to do now, but thanks for caring.
Dunno if you're still looking for series to watch and maybe youve already seen these but BBC's Planet Earth and Planet Earth II are both really good nature documentaries with amazing animals. It's v cute and cool and interesting. David Attenborough narrates them it's great
That’s actually a really great idea, seeing as I just finished watching Cosmos on Netflix. ;) I’ve seen snippets of them, but never actually sat down to watch the whole thing. Thanks!
Bookish asks 1, 2, 5, 6, 11, 14, 23, 24, 25, 28! :D
OK here we go!
1. hardback or paperbackI like hardbacks (I call them hardcovers, by the way) in theory, because they look beautiful on a shelf, but in practice they tend to be super expensive, clumsy and clunky. I almost exclusively read paperbacks.
2. borrow or buyI like to own my own books (obviously). But if I’d had to buy every book I want to read, I’d be very broke, so I love borrowing!
5. wall shelves or bookcasesI’ve never had wall shelves, for my books or anything else. I’m afraid they wouldn’t be able to handle the weight I’d want to put on them. Plus, I love my bookcases! One of them is the standard Ikea Expedit (now called Kallax, I think?) in the 5x5 squares format. The other one is a simple wooden bookcase that my grandfather (clumsiest man alive) built himself for my aunt when she moved out.
6. bad plot with good characters or good plot with bad charactersI’ll take good characters any day! I mean, obviously the stories that hit the sweet spot of both plot and characters being great are the best, but I tend to gravitate towards character-driven stories anyway.
11. buy in a bookshop or buy onlineI used to buy most of my books online before I started working in a bookshop. Now I buy my books almost exclusively through work. I try not to judge people who buy their books online (because I used to be one of them), but I know how much it’s hurting the business, so it’s hard not to be salty about it. Also: come on, nothing beats a rainy afternoon spent in a bookshop.
14. alphabetical shelves or colour coordinatedNeither, in my case. I love looking at rainbow shelves in photos and stuff, but I wouldn’t want them myself. I tend to organise my books by topic, more or less.
23. be your favourite character or be their best friendI don’t have one favourite character that comes to mind? But I guess I’d prefer to be their best friend, because being them would mean they’d stop existing.
24. physical or e-bookI don’t own an e-reader and have never read an e-book in my life. I mean, I see the advantages, but I’ve just never felt the appeal strongly enough to invest in it.
25. read in bed or on a chairHonestly, I’ll read anywhere. ;) Most of my reading happens on my commute to/from work, so technically that’s “on a chair”, I guess. But I do definitely also read in bed.
28. reading in the winter or reading in the summerThere’s something romantic about the idea of reading in autumn and winter, when the weather outside is horrible and you curl up with a book and a cup of tea. But I looove me some good summer reads in the sun as well.
Thank you for asking, this is exactly what I needed right now. ❤
Ask me: Bookish This or That
Cauldron, Hocus-Pocus, Witch and Zombie :D
Cauldron: what is your favourite thing to cook?I don’t really use recipes or anything, I usually just go by what I have in the fridge, so I don’t have specific dish in mind. I really enjoy cooking pasta, because you can use pretty much any ingredients and LOTS OF CHEESE and still make a really tasty dish (that would probably mortally offend some genuine Italian nonnas, but hey, I don’t have any of those). This time of year, I also love cooking with pumpkin, but chopping and peeling it is so. much. work.
Hocus Pocus: what’s the most ridiculous thing you’ve ever heard? That the complexity of the human eye proves that it must’ve been designed by an intelligent creature. If anything, its complexity shows that it wasn’t designed by anyone at all, because any sort of intelligent creature would have created something much more sleek & streamlined and much less vulnerable.
Witch: if you could have the power to cast any kind of spell, what kind of spell would you cast?I always need tons of clarifications with questions like these… What exactly qualifies as a spell? Can I only use the spell once? I don’t know; since I don’t really see myself changing the world with just one spell (and even if I did, it would probably backfire on me), I think I’d use it for something small and foolproof, such as making the PERFECT hot chocolate when I really need it or something.
Zombie: what is one food you always overeat? In summmer, it’s this pasta salad which is a family recipe that I used to always beg my parents to make for my birthday (and I still make it for myself on my birthday!). In winter, it’s my mum’s boerenkool, which is ridiculously good.
Thank you for your questions, Jeanne!
