JACKIE ROBINSON
by Fluke
Born to a sharecropper family in Cairo, Georgia in 1919, Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier in Major League Baseball when he played his first game with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947. Few know, however, that a year before he entered the history books, Robinson was embraced by the Montréal Royals, a farm team for the Dodgers. Robinson had four hits in his first game for the Royals and despite facing racial threats on on the road no one dared insult him in Montréal. Already honored by plaques and statues in the city, @AshopCrew founder and artist Fluke added this tribute at Napoleon and Saint Laurent for the city's 2017 @MuralFestival . Incorporating textures, patterns, calligraphy, and iconography, Fluke's unique blend of graffiti, and contemporary urban art has made his a leader on the Canadian street art landscape. @fluke.art/
