Duration: 1.4 Hours Route of Flight: KHFD > KIJD > KHFD Notes and Thoughts: When people say flying is a lot like riding a bike, cause you never truly forget, they're right. But unlike riding a bike, there is a LOT of shit to do. Remembered that really quickly. Constantly off on my altitude, speed, etc etc. I forgot how much multitasking it was. We departed the airport and headed east to Windham airport to do a couple patterns and landings. The ride there was a bit bumpy but uneventful. Talked a bit about the area and briefed the appraoch. My first pattern was actually really good, pretty much perfect which is what my instructor told me. However the landing was complete shit as is expected. I landed flat, with no crosswind correction and off centerline. Oops. Second pattern my instructor flew and landed to show me what everything was like. We departed windham to the west, and flew back to hartford. It was kind of hard finding the airport because there are so many fuckin trees here unlike Florida. Also, theres an abandoned airport literally right next to HFD. It was also extremely hazy today which made for shit visibility. Found the airport about 20 miles out or so, called up tower, and they cleared me for a right base leg entry. Called em when I was 2 miles out and they cleared me to land. Pattern was a bit high and landing was again a bit rough. Second landing was a bit smoother although my instructor was on the controls a bit. Third was my best of the day although far from a great landing. I have a feeling I'll learn crosswind landings much faster in CT than in FL. Sidenote: My instructor is terrified of how close we are to the trees on final and takeoff in CT. He's not used to how close the trees are to the runway lol Next flights wednesday, and its all manuevers. Its good to see another upate in my logbook.
