@lazchance
why wont anyone kill me
please, please. someone kill me.
hello my dears... huntsman on tree trunk catches an ant
lichen huntsmen spiders can be recognised by their flattened body and a raised ocular region you can see in the above pic. these spiders are very well camouflaged on tree trunks even with their large size. their orange, green, and brown colours help it to blend into the surface of bark with some mild lichen textures
however, they can be easily spotted using the eyeshine trick. youll see large white dots glowing on tree trunks. so even when they remain motionless youll be able to see their eyes from far away
i see them pretty often but this one has managed to catch an unfortunate ant!
Genus Pandercetes
hello my dears... mystery jumping spider in the grass today
i dont have too much to say for this jumping spider because i dont know what kind it is
i see them in the grass pretty frequently, spiders with a testaceous body colour, greenish black head, some yellowish brown setae near the eyes
paging @saltcidaeily in case they would like to take a look at this spider
Genus Chalcotropis (no confidence here)
hello my dears... colourful crab spider shows off its tribal-looking carapace
this is among my favourite crab spiders to find and photograph. it boasts a convex and glossy carapace, a flat abdomen, and some very bright and recognisable colouration.
the abdomen is black and orange-yellow, with a patterning that looks like a tribal mask to me? do yall see it? maybe its just pareidolia
in the female, the legs are translucent
for those who have followed this account for a while, you may remember that i have posted this species before! this was the pic i uploaded previously
this crab spider preys on ants and caterpillars mainly, common prey found in the tall untended grassland it resides in
Flat Abdomen Crab Spider (Camaricus maugei)
hello my dears... pill millipede curls up into a ball after sensing a human
while looking for more goodies on the forest floor i spotted this fat asian pill millipede crawling across the ground. but as i approached to take a picture, the bright lights caused it to curl up in fear...
eventually... as i stayed still in silence, it became habituated to the lights and uncurled
then it slowly walked away!
Family Zephroniidae
Gyas Jewelmark or Gyas Sarota Metalmark (Sarota gyas), family Riodonidae, Peru

hello my dears... daddy long legs with... short legs???
now this is something i honestly did not know about until i saw this guy on the forest floor. i was immediately intrigued by its appearance. it has eight legs but it didnt resemble a spider!
this guy is a daddy long legs (harvestman) that belongs to the family Sandokanidae
harvestmen from this family have a body size of 1cm or less (very tiny!) and are usually amber coloured with dark brown patterns
they are also recognised by their short and stumpy legs, despite being a "daddy long legs"
definitely a very surreal creature to find considering i had no prior knowledge of it
Sandokan truncatus
HAII! Today’s bug of the week is a dead-nettle leaf beetle!!! These guys are found from Europe to Central Asia and are the sole representative of the beetle “fasta” family!! Look at their awesome colours!!!
(Hehhe thank u @lazchance for showing me these cuties)
^-^
hello my dears... giant millipede with a unique armoured appearance
very excited to see this millipede! i knew of the two types of giant millipede that could be found in the forests, the smooth and shiny, red and black one from my previous post, and this armoured, warty one with black scales and white furry legs
i found this giant armoured creature on a piece of decaying wood
Platyrhacus lineatus
hello my dears... another huntsman with pretty colours today...
i love these huntsmen and their pretty colours!
Giant Huntsman Spiders

hello my dears... scaly looking weevil i found on the bark of a tree...
love the textures on this guy. very pitted, scaly, rough, leathery looking appearance
its always nice to find weevils
Genus Mechistocerus (possibly? unconfirmed)
hello my dears... planthopper with large eyebrows today...
this is my first time finding anything like this in the forest. a planthopper (nymph i think?) with large bushy eyebrows. looks very distinguished. a top hat would go very well with it
in addition to the normal fluffy hairy appearance that planthopper nymphs possess, this one also has a 'star' on its head. very pretty! one of the stranger planthopper nymphs ive seen
Superfamily Fulgoroidea
again, a very general id since planthoppers are very diverse and even harder to id in nymph stage
hello my dears... i gave this scarab beetle a bit of melon
i have posted this to bugblr before but im posting it here on my main because i did quite fancy the interaction and this pic
this scarab beetle flew into my room so i offered it a small piece of the melon i was eating and took some shots while it was lost in the sauce
Genus Mimela
admire that shiny elytra it almost looks happy munching on the fruit
hello my dears... very strange looking ant crawls on my jeans
what a strange looking ant this is!!! i have never seen an ant with such large beady eyes and such robust legs
this is in fact, a jumping spider that intentionally mimics ants! Toxeus maxillosus. maybe you knew that. i hope i got you to stop scrolling
ant mimicking jumping spiders are surprisingly diverse too? not just jumping spiders, some crab spiders mimic ants. its kinda like convergent evolution just figured out mimicking ants is a really good idea. nothing really wants to touch ants
too much formic acid, and swarm intelligence
hello my dears... bright yellow ladybug on a leaf outside my home...
most of the ladybugs that i see are a mix of red and black patterning. ive only seen one another yellow ladybug and it was a netty ladybug (black and yellow)
im pretty sure this is my first time seeing one thats so vividly yellow
Yellow Ladybird (BeetleIlleis koebelei)
it may look dead in the first pic but its very much alive. you can see it running in this second pic
hello my dears... itty bitty treehopper sits alone on a leaf
what a mood... tiny little guy
i decided to leave a decent amount of negative space in the photo just to show how tiny it is. also makes it look even cuter
Genus Sipylus
